Anti-spam feature and OP

Been running into the anti-spam "commenting too quickly" feature a bit lately and I was wondering if the OP in question could be exempted/mitigated from this? If the OP is spamming and/or trolling then no one will really visit the thread and thus render the point moot. I understand if it's there for technical load reasons as well, but as an OP who comes back to multiple responses and I want to get at them all relatively quickly then I run into this issue.

Totally a convenience thing, but also a "why not?" situation as well.
