Why don't Nested comments automatically quote in chronological?

Personally Chronological is useless as of this moment because of this factor. One could argue that GD functions in this manner, but its a social understanding that you are commenting on the poster above you if your directing your quote to the person above you. On here it's nearly impossible to understand a persons thoughts if they aren't specifically quoting or referencing them.

In the previous incarnation of chrono view they had a "Show parent" option, where the comment that was replied to was minimized and could be expanded. I'm not too sure why that feature didn't make the transition the Boards update, but I can say it was a bit buggy so it may come back!
