Rioter Avatars - Important or Not?

Hi,

I brought this up a long time ago, but now that original GD is going the way of the dodo I figured I would bring it up again.

Are Rioters going to completely lose their visual identity when we switch over the the Boards permanently? Rioters on the old forums got to pick their own unique icon to represent themselves; here on the Boards, there is no visual differentiation and it can become difficult to distinguish between or recognize Rioters.

In the screenshot, Tamat is going to be losing the icon chosen specifically for him in lieu of the summoner icon he uses in the client. What are your thoughts on this?

Personally I love the uniqueness that Rioter's get when they have a picture players do not, but still from art that we know.

Riot Gradius for example, iirc, has a picture of Riven's whole blade from her old art. It's an awesome picture, one that I know, and one that I know only he has.

And let's not forget others like Baconhawk, that Pheonix Valor pic.

Not having icons makes it a pain to distinguish each of them especially in big conversations.

So far we're at 87% agreement (27/31), according to the poll. Limited sample/haphazard/not statistically significant I know.

I'm going to stick this in GD as well for more visibility, especially since they might have a stronger opinion in either direction. I'll link both threads to each other.
