As far as I'm concerned , even if Riot announced the Lore change, they haven't implemented anything that invalidates the old Lore... So I'm going to play this game and read all the stories of champions as if the Institute of War exist... so yeah I'm still a summoner 
I can see your frustration with it. The lore is an important part of this game and Riot just seems to ignore the changes they've made already.
Not understanding the point of this post.
I seem to recall something about Summoners still being a thing, just different from the omnipotent lords of everything they previously were. Don't quote me on that, though, I'm definitely not a reliable source of lore information.
Riot said that we are still summoners... we are just no longer a part of the world itself.... they're a separate thing that is no longer a part of the world. We just summon heroes FROM that world.
Long after the new lore gets passed:
