As far as I'm concerned , even if Riot announced the Lore change, they haven't implemented anything that invalidates the old Lore... So I'm going to play this game and read all the stories of champions as if the Institute of War exist... so yeah I'm still a summoner item 3070

I can see your frustration with it. The lore is an important part of this game and Riot just seems to ignore the changes they've made already.

This thread is more along the lines of poking fun at the outdated account creation message than frustration, to be honest. I get why they did the lore change, I just wish they had some material to back it up.

They have stated over and over again that Summoners still exist. Albeit, they do play a very different role then in the old lore, but they are still there.

What he's talking about is, we are still called Summoners. Which doesn't have any connection to the lore anymore, so for all that matters we might as well be called melon lords or daisy ducks.

They don't exist in the canon lore anymore, LoL just calls us like that still, basically.

I seem to recall something about Summoners still being a thing, just different from the omnipotent lords of everything they previously were. Don't quote me on that, though, I'm definitely not a reliable source of lore information.

Well not like summoners really were omnipotent lords... like Lee Sin was a summoner in training pretty much... how could that disaster happen if he/they were so omnipotent? Honestly champions seemed more like Generals and supports to the champions who were willing to fight for their summoner/nation or for other reasons like good enough compensations.. (Sivir anyone? Well she used to be a mercenary.. now I am not so sure anymore)

Riot said that we are still summoners... we are just no longer a part of the world itself.... they're a separate thing that is no longer a part of the world. We just summon heroes FROM that world.
