Example.

These kinds of discussions are not being moderated, although this board is supposed to be used for feedback about Boards specifically, so I assume it's OK with you guys; If that's the case, can we modify this board's name/guidelines to reflect that? If it's not OK but you're just letting it slide for now, can we start moderating that type of content, and either create a new board where it belongs, or specify which board it does belong on?

But please, don’t post League gameplay feedback or bug reports. This isn’t the place for that. - Culture guidelines for Boards Feedback

Is this what you're referring to?

I actually haven't noticed that kind of thread lasting for too long. 7 hours is the longest I have ever seen a clearly misplaced thread open, so I'm not sure what happened with the thread you linked. Did you report the thread upon creation?

I have not reported the thread. In part, that's because I'm not sure where to put it. Maps & Modes? Champions & Gameplay? It just doesn't make sense.

Put differently, I can see how a reasonable person would determine this is the best place for their post.

Regardless of where to put it, it's on the incorrect board right? Part of the point of the report function is for us to help make the moderation team's job easier by bringing that stuff to their attention!

What's the correct board, though? Are they all incorrect? The content clearly belongs on the forums. Miscellaneous?

Probably Miscellaneous, unfortunately.

I have to admit, I'm a bit confused with the mentality of additional boards segmenting the community past being useful. Things that don't overlap like **Lore **or Pre-game & Post-game really shouldn't have a huge effect in that sense, other than allowing players to have a place to put their content that isn't basically "if we haven't made a board for it, put it here".

Someone (Pendragon? Tamat?) said recently, that if there's a category getting >50 posts/day, they're interested in creating a board for it.

I think the idea is that they want to avoid this scenario:

  • They make a board
  • Only 4 people post in it
  • Only 4 people regularly see posts there
  • People stop posting there because nobody regularly reads that board.
  • GD reforms

An alternative scenario:

  • They don't make a board
  • No one can post anything about a given topic anywhere
  • No one sees posts there
  • People find their interest elsewhere

Here is what is on a random screenshotted slice of Miscellaneous (13 threads):

  • Ranked Play: 3
  • Miscellaneous: 2
  • Skins: 2
  • Champions & Gameplay: 2 (these should really be on the Champions & Gameplay board)
  • Lore: 1
  • Working at Riot: 1
  • Bug Report: 1
  • Other Media: 1

Let's compare that to a random screenshotted slice of General Discussion (13 threads):

  • Skins: 4
  • Miscellaneous: 3
  • Champions & Gameplay: 3
  • Live Balance: 2
  • Ranked Play: 1

This is obviously super anecdotal, but what I'm seeing is that General Discussion is actually more focused than Miscellaneous.
