As you may have noticed, we just pushed out an update to the Boards that updated the Navigation bar at the top of the page to match that of the Leagueoflegends.com homepage. This is to provide a consistent experience across the whole site.

I hated the change to the home page, and this is even worse. Now I can't go to the dev tracker at all. Previously you increased the number of clicks I had to make because of your stupid change. Now I can't get there at all.

It would make more sense IMHO, since that's a personal preference, that you create a bookmark in your browser for that.

Yes, the experience is now consistent, but consistently sucks as a result. Somebody obviously put work into getting that navigation bar to look all neat, but removed 90% of its functionality to do so.

before, I could easily get to the dev tracker with just one mouse click from the home page. Now I have to click "boards" then scroll down and click the dev tracker link.
Personally, I very much dislike the sidebar menu. Menus should be at the top of the page, and out of site unless needed. None of that magic "follow you and hog up precious real estate" that a lot of newer sites are doing.
Daen2 votesIt's funny because while making it look neat they also made it way smaller so it's actually harder to see the neatness. I'm honestly confused as to how the nav bar passed through UX, it's not up to the quality I generally expect from Riot.
I'm not saying it's the developers' fault at all on this feature, I'm just tired of these things happening with no transparency or input from the community whatsoever.
Thryale2 votesriiiiiiiiighhhhhhhht. because having to click on "boards" from the home page then scrolling down to click on a link hidden among a bunch of other links is sooooooooooooooooooo much more convenient that just hovering over "boards" on the home page and clicking "dev tracker" from the drop down menu.
Daen1 votesWhy are dropdowns taboo in this scenario? The Red Tracker is likely the most used tab on the entire Boards platform, and removing it from the old navigation tab was just...weird. It's an extra page and an extra click for users that want to access it, for no other reason than the fact that for some reason clean UI is more important to you (Riot) than basic functionality.

What they should do is have a hover option on the menu bar that goes to subsections of pages. This would ease a lot of pain from this implementation. Also, lock the top bar to the top of the page so it is always accessible.
Thryale1 votesno no no no no. I hate having menu bars follow you around. If I have to spend more than 30 secs on a site with that feature, I instantly pull up "inspect element" and delete the nuisance right away.

Daen1 votesYa'll need to settle this and move on. Thryale dislikes following menu bars, and that's fine. The part about having it follow is completely personal preference, so I respect that.
Also, I agree with you (BadxWolf) about a hover option for dropdowns; it existed on the old navigation bar, I have no idea why Riot has this desire to value clean visual over function.

What's the point of having the news subsections if it's darn near impossible to access them? Please put in drop down menus again, please. I beg of you.
Point of reference: I used the Red Tracker as my main page for League BECAUSE IT HAD DROP DOWN MENUS.

BADxW0LF1 votesThe Champ Info tab is something that needs a lot of attention. It takes so many clicks to get to the info that I want. It was much easier having it dropdown to multiple subsections of the page. Also, the server status page should have a place on your top menu bar. ONE MORE THING please have the top menu bar autolock to the top of the page so it is always accessible.
disregardable6 votesHey remember that post I made 4 months ago that got 1200 views and no responses? "Patch notes, Dev Blog, and the New Status Bar" ? That drop down was the only way to access any of those pages. There aren't links on other pages to them. We can't reference the old patch notes now without clicking back 10,000 times or using an off-site search engine.
We don't even have anything to click on to see our posts and discussions homepage thing. We have to post something and THEN click our name to get there. Why did you think this was ready to be rolled out?

Daen4 votesI don't understand why the initial goal was to implement a less functional navigation bar on the main page. I was glad the Boards team had some sense and kept the one that actually had basic functionality like dropdowns and actual specific navigation, but apparently that's no longer the case.
I'm aware this is harsh, but the new nav bar is not only less visually appealing (subjective) but it's less functional (objective), which is literally the entire point of UX as a discipline.

Zyorhist1 votesstill doesn't take me to my updates when I click it. Only takes me to the boards main page, been having this problem since boards started. Every once in a blue moon I get taken to my updates but its months in the interim where it doesn't work.

Right now they look as if were behind a dark glass or something and numbers on both are so darn small I can't make out if there are 3 or 5 responses.
