Using these boards to try and specifically ask Rioters for advice works poorly

For instance, I was hoping to ask RiotScruffy, Meddler, Xypherous, or someone on Champion Design for advice regarding one of my tank Champion concepts and how to balance it out, but either the question topics get shot down by troll smurfs or they get outright ignored. I assume the fact that there's no PM system in these boards is meant to prevent Rioters from getting spammed to death with questions, it doesn't help when you have some fairly important things that need answering.

Will this be an intentional downside of the Boards Beta, or is it something that can somehow be addressed?

Is it any harder here than on GD?

I'm not saying we shouldn't try to improve the situation, just trying to figure out, is it a problem with Boards or is it a problem with forums in general?

If it's fairly important to the community as a whole (or at least a significant portion), this sort of forum should allow that to bubble up to the surface. If it's important to only one person (or very few), it's not really feasible to support that sort of interaction from Riot's perspective.

Riot has around 1500 employees, wheras the community is about 70 million people. Even with the 1% of the community that uses the forums, that would still be almost 467 people per Rioter. Imagine if each of those players wanted to have a 1 on 1 conversation via the forums; Riot would never be able to get anything done.

It works so poorly in fact, that they literally create Dev blogs and rely heavily on external sites in order for players to properly provide said feedback. Yet Riot has no issues whatsoever with this fact.
