We need a forum area without upvoting/downvoting.

Let's say someone brings up an honest question or debate that's both healthy to be discussed, but very polarizing. It gets downvoted to being locked or pushed off so noone, esp reds see it. That would both hurt the community, and the game because important stuff can't be talked about if it's not popular to talk about.

So I think the new forums need a place where tough and uncomfortable things can be talked about. People don't like change. They don't want to lose freelo. They don't want to look at the scary things outside of the box that sometimes you have to deal with.

We don't need an abusable system for shutting down things that need to be talked about.

I haven't seen anything like that happen yet. The people here right now are pretty easy-going. If your thread gets downvoted something was probably wrong with the tone of your message.

Also keep in mind that time from posted is also factored into it's Hot ordering "score". So a recent post can be downvoted into the ground and it will only be overtaken by new posts at the beginning.

I think this is a decent idea, I recently made a 3 paragraph post about the ranking system, and my post was pretty healthy and honest. No whining, just to the point. I had 3 people downvote me for," Didn't read, too long and shut up." Unfortunately, there are always going to be ways that scumbags ruin a healthy conversation so yeah...
