Perhaps you're right, however the point I'm trying to make is that with the increased traffic, the boards' flaws are now starting to become more pronounced. This idea of vote doctoring has been an issue from the beginning, but it's been an isolated issue for the most part. Now, things like this are commonplace, and it's gotten to the point where downvotes have gone from being isolated to troll posts or flaming, to people who simply disagree with the hive mind of the boards. Case and point was with your comment on that thread, there's absolutely no way that the votes should have fluctuated that much. This is primarily because the new attitude on the boards is upvote to agree, downvote to disagree, and that has some serious fundamental problems. Because of the nature of upvotes garnering more views and traffic, people are less likely to make a post about a controversial opinion because it quite frankly is a waste of the energy required for keystrokes.
I mean, what incentive would I have theoretically make a post defending the Cassiopeia changes (I don't agree with them for the record) if all I know that is going to happen is that I'm going to get downvoted to oblivion the instant I post it, and the few people who take the time to reply call me a retard or a troll? Certainly doesn't make me want to use the boards, that's for damn sure. This is generally why reddit is considered shit, and only the subreddits are the ones that have any sort of value to people because people are passionate enough about a certain subject to overlook how piss-poor the boards are. Hell, even the reds, you know, the people in charge of making the boards in the first place, are shying away from it and making long winded posts about why that is. Despite my agreement with the boards on how much Stashu and CertainlyT have fucked up, I completely understand why they aren't going near it. It doesn't matter what they say anymore because they boards have painted them as the enemy. If their posts aren't downvoted to oblivion and not reciving any traffic, they're getting flamed by the people who are automatically colored by "this post has too many downvotes click to view", which instantly puts a bias in people's heads about the content being wrong, and as such are more willing to go with the groupthink. This isn't conspiracy theories, this is fundamental psychological principles. The boards literally reward people for flaming, shitposting, and circlejerking.
I agree that it isn't completely hopeless, and that I should stick to recent and new, but I have to ask, what is the point for putting a bunch of time and effort in extremely deep and thought provoking posts that you have shown time and time again to be capable of, when I can just make a thread saying GG
