[Ideas] 2:00am Ideas for the CB
I'm travelling, I'm tired, but my sleep schedule is still completely out of whack due to finals week. So naturally the best thing to do is to brainstorm ideas to improve the CB amiright? 'course I'm right! Right? (Left?)
Anyway....
####Cited Posts So I don't know how/if Riot "approves" any 3rd party LoL news sites like S@20, but if this doeas/can happen wouldn't it be awesome to give an icon similar to the Riot symbol for Red visits to posts that have garnered the attention of Moobeat and others? Implementation wise I don't know if you would like to give a status to these news site titans or another way entirely, but I think it would be awesome. Not to mention explain a sudden spike in visibility.
####Best by time
Okay, okay, not orginal, but I think with the overall approval of the PotD (<3 Baconhawk you're awesome) this idea needs to be shouted out again. Best by day, best week and best by month sorting options. PotD doesn't have to dissapear at all either, just switch to 'featured post' and keep on keeping on.
####Pre-built pre-fix tags
Not required but what if there was an option, instead of manually writing "[Idea]" or "[Jinx]" or "[Bug]" at the beginning of a title, to click off of a dropbar? Now this may seem unnecessary, but if users see these pre-built tags two things happen. 1) If arranged by sub-comm, these pre-built tags can show examples of what's expected withing a sub-comm ([Guides], [Counter], and [Help] for Live Gameplay and [Champion Concept], [Art], and [Lore] for Fan Creations for a few examples). 2) These could be used to make automated searching and sorting through these tags so much easier.
####Community Flaggers
Not Mods, we've been down that road before and I understand that NA might not be quite ready for that yet, but a possible 'trial' phase or simply a lesser version of this would be giving a select few users the ability to 'flag' a post for either very good or very bad reasons. These flags can be a nice assistance to mods and for other Rioters (such as Baconhawk for PotD nominations, or Ironstylus for awesome Leona/Diana art Pics, etc etc.)
(I've mentioned this before a few times, but I haven't been to aggressive with advertising the idea)
####Showing Honor
So I know you all are working to bring ranked badges into the CB (anyone reading this can submit a support ticket and ask to get their specific badges to be uploaded on a case by case if wanted, at least last I heard), but just in case this wasn't already immediately thought of, showing ribbons would be a great idea as well. Seeing how seldom a green ribbon or lord help me a blue/yellow ribbon is nowadays it can go a little ways to letting friendly and positive people rise that little above the rest of us.
####Poro emoticons
C'mon guys, we need a poro Icon before any other additions to the fancy icon toolbar. And better yet, why don't we make them emoticons??. Just as skype and other IM services have with smiley selections. If we really got things rolling they could be specifically formatted gifs too......
Honestly now that I think about it I'm probably going to make that my first project in learning how to 8-bit art. It's summer now...I have time....I think...
They'll probably turn out like jiggling snowballs. But hey, learning.

####Forum <---> Game interactions
Simple idea, icon for doing a single action in the league forums. Granted this would have to be done after the great vBuletin-CB divide is resolved in some form (wouldn't want them feeling forced to use the CB), but rewarding just navigating to the forums means expoure, exposure means advertising, advertising means higher traffic, which means more communication and more voices. And yes that sounds awful and good but also very difficult to manage. File this one under 'for (far in the) future use' I guess.
####Stats!
Can we get an infograph or something every now and again to show forum traffic and activity? There's been quite a few times where I've been curious on what times of day have been peaks for forum traffic, for red traffic and the overall number of people perusing through here. Hell, I'll take how many people are signed into PvP.net outside of the game client if that's possible. Much curiosity, not necessary, such want though, wow.
I think that's pretty much it. I love having these obnoxious brainstorms, they kinda build on themselves. Feel free to critique, build off of or simply de-throne any of these ideas. I'll respond tomorrow (later today?) and see how silly these ideas are myself. I also apologize for my inevitably large amounts of grammar and spelling errors.
