Reply function in Chrono view? Update?

It's hard to have a conversation with people when you're using differing viewing methods. People using discussion won't naturally quote the person they are replying to, confusing chronological viewers. And chronological viewers will quote all the time (out of necessity) wasting a lot of unnecessary space for discussion viewers.

We used to have the "parent comment" feature in chrono view replies, whatever happened to that? I completely understand it was pretty buggy but are there plans to bring it back out in a more stable form?

Also, if we ever get that back, or a similar feature, can a reply in chrono view immediately be arranged as a reply in discussion view?
