How would you feel about a 'like/dislike' button?

In addition to an upvote/downvote button? 'Like/dislike' would function something like facebook - it would sit at the bottom of each post/comment, and would not be used for sorting.

Would you vote differently if there were like and dislike button attached to each post as well?

You didn't waste much time Hyrum. From comment to OP in less than 5 minutes, lol.

Anyway, I think the idea has some merit but runs into the danger of likes overriding voting in popularity. I can see a lot of people just liking and not bothering to vote as well. We already have bit of a drought in that regard currently, so imho definitely not at this moment but that may change later as the CB base grows.

On the actual effect, I know I would still vote. An idea paired with this may be to also try to get the vote score's name stuck as "visibility score", I think the internet's precedent for voting skew the actual design intent of the voting system and I'm kinda trying to think of intuitive ways to steer the user base towards the right frame of mind. Reinforcing the vote's control of visibility and adding in likes for control of overall approval might be a step in the rigt direction.

The whole point of a forum is to communicate through sentences. Why do you guys need more and more bells and whistles to further enforce your opinion? A valid sentence should be more than adequate.
