[Bug Report?] What does Riot have against hearts?

Hearts apparently don't show up in posts. Like, they're completely deleted from the post, upon posting. They show up in the preview.

It's not like they're interpreted as invisible syntax marks, because \

edit: Found further symptoms upon trying to post this. Apparently, writing < 3 (without the space in between) ends the post. As in, anything after those two characters is deleted and not recorded (hence the cut-off above).

Don't believe me? Try replying to this post with a comment containing < 3 (without the space in between).

I think it is because the greater-than and less-than symbols are used in syntax codes for things like quoting other players and more. It may assume that you are intending to close them with the other symbol and when you don't it is unsure what it is supposed to do. With the other symbol it hasn't finished that syntax code yet when you post. Just a guess.
