So i got this message from rito.

Where was the insult? I wasn't harassing him. Is retard not politically correct anymore? I'm sorry. It wasn't satire. I wasn't trying to point out anything ironically funny with him, which is what i always learned satire to be. Developmental disabilities are no laughing matter.

It was said to a person who is going to most of the comments on the boards and contradicting what I'm saying for the purpose of contradiction. He has no reason to, and it doesn't make sense to. He showed a lack of mental faculty to comprehend what a normal person could. If i were for some reason in an argument with someone, and they couldn't follow a logical argument that had no holes in it nor any way to cast doubt on it, rested on no false pretenses and had no other errors, I would tell them, "Well, you must be mentally challenged or have something wrong with you if you can't see what is correct." So... what are you saying. My use of the word retard was wrong? I covered that in the op, so your comment is redundant.

That was a joke about the videogamedunkey. He said that and was banned. But i didn't want to just not respond, then he might think that he was right. and we can't have that. So by saying that i affirm that he is wrong but discontinue the argument and deescalate the situation.

I said that i was done in the comment. I told him that i have no reason to waste my time with him. That would mean anything he said after that would be ignored by me because i have, with a reasonable degree of certainty, ascertained that he is mentally challenged and can not be reasoned with. How i set up a flame war is beyond me.

Retard or Retarded when used to describe people is a completely different thing from someone being unintelligent, ignorant, stupid or just plain trolling. The word retard is most commonly used to make fun of people who suffer from a mental handicap and it is very offensive to most compassionate human beings.

I am unsure how anyone could not know this.

So instead of being the bigger person and dropping it (from the way it seem the guys obviously wasnt getting the statement you were trying to make) you felt the need to insult him? that doesnt make any sense. Why did you need to confront him with anything? especially since he wasnt looking through reasoning! I would have thought it would be common sense that any use of the word "retard" is in the wrong. You dont have a medical degree, or have any means to tell someone they are "retarded".

I live in a place and grew up in a time when if someone was lacking mentally they were called retard. It wasn't mean. It was just how we called them. The medical community used it to. If i were walking down the street and some guy was running around naked drinking mud id say "does anyone know what's up with that guy? is he a retard?" and no one would think that offensive. I had a cousin who was retarded and after being around him a lot i sort of can tell. I have a way about it.

And that makes it ok for you to call who ever you want "retarded"? that doesnt make any sense. You are judging someone who is playing a game (or in this case talking about a game) How exactly do you have any credentials to call someone that with little to no medical training? So you know a handicap person, doesnt make it right to call someone else that just because you know someone like that. Its like saying you know a black person so its ok for you to say the N-word. its idiotic to even think that. Again you should have just let it go instead of harassing him.

What would you have me call someone who was mentally disabled? I am going to pass that judgement on them and make it known? And no, i think it would be ok for anyone to say that a person is mentally disabled, i just think that i would be more likely to be correct in saying it (The person is actually mentally handicapped) since i know someone who is developmentally disabled, than the next person. Also, the %%%%%% word is derogatory. I wasn't trying to be derogatory. I was trying to say that this person has an apparent mental handicap in an unoffensive way. If the only thing wrong with that was that i said retard then we are done here because it's been explained that in the vast majority of areas retard is not acceptable, but mentally challenged is.

My credentials to judge wether or not someone has it is that i know people with it, maybe they are not the best credentials, but they certainly are credentials that most don't have.

I understand that my first post may have been wrong for saying retard.

But i can not understand how it would be wrong if i edited it to "You're obviously mentally challenged."

This guy had been following me on the boards disagreeing with my posts just to be a %%%%. I doubt very much that he stumbled across all the threads i made on many different boards by chance and just so happened to disagree with all of them. This was not the first incident i had with him. I tried to report him for harassment. It didn't work. So, in a final effort to dismiss him, i told him that because of his apparent mental disability, further argument with him would be a waste of time as he can not or will not (by his own choice) understand it.
