Thing is, you can't change your vote in a poll. You can change your up/down vote. So I'm not sure this would be helpful. It's a good idea though.
This is true, and you would still be able to change your decision after you cast your up/downvote. I would hope that people still only do this after having seen new information, and not because of the current vote total that is now visible to them, but I'm sure it would still happen, just less often. I also think that people would be less likely to vote just to see what the popular vote is, then change their vote to match. My thought is that these people will be more likely to not vote at all, which is fine by me. Along the same lines, people may try to go down the line and vote up or down just to see the totals. For this reason, I feel that Riot really should do a better job of tracking vote frequency and consistency. Doing this would help to identify people who are not voting based on the actual post. I do think that people who abuse this feature are intentionally feeding toxicity into the board community and decreasing the general integrity of the boards. I would support Riot for implementing restrictions and bans for doing this.
It is my belief that hiding the current vote total would be better at preventing preconceived assumptions about the quality of a post before actually reading it. As the boards are now, you can scroll down the list of posts and see the current vote total. If you were to see a -20 you will most likely just assume that it is a bad post (which it probably is with a score that low) and either just skip it or look at it just to see how bad it is. And of course there are some who will simply downvote it just because they want to see the negative numbers get larger. To a degree, the same thing happens with negative numbers that are still closer to 0.
The unfortunate drawback to this would be that posts with a few upvotes wouldn't be easily identified either. There are already 'BEST' and 'HOT' sorting filters built into the boards, which would still function the same as they do now. I am not as worried about positive bias as I am for negative ones because of the consistent psychological principle called the Losada ratio. This basically says that negative influences tend to have about 3 times the weight as a positive influence.
