[Idea] Works in Progress Rioter Post
First of all, Happy Holidays to everyone.
In my attempt to 1) flood the New Community Beta front page with posts that are actually appropriate and 2) stave off boredom in a Kentucky Hotel room waiting for Christmas Eve like a giddy 5-year old I wonder if the idea of a "Current Projects" rioter post has ever been thrown around.
Now I know it's against precedent to post ETA's or other estimates like that and I'm not asking for that but what about a list of what the New Community Beta team's currently working on or at least talking about? And then pinning that post just under the intro post at the top. It would definitely alleviate repeat ideas and also allow for non-rioters to come up with optimization and improvement ideas to these current projects. Why use a few dozen heads when you can pick at least one hundred brains?
So to clarify, I was thinking of a post tacked under the Welcome to the Community Beta post that would include a list of ideas and projects taht are currently being discussed internally, no estimates till completion, no priority ranking, not any of that. Just simply, a list of stuff the team is thinking about.
So let's rewind a bit and say this hypothetical post was there this entire time, as an example it would read something like this:
Currently on the corkboard:
Icon Toolbar
an easy UI toolbar way to put it in champion and spell icons to your posts to circumvent the confusing code blocks we've come to know and specifically not love.
Post Preview touch-up
Editing the preview to take up less space and make it easier to see what you are actually writing.
Name Change
Thinking about changing the Beta Feedback sub-community name to lessen PBE confusion, any ideas guys?
If anyone has been here since near the beginning you might be able to remember when these were implemented. Now, a list like this has dangers of course.
- It sets expectations, and if something screwy happens and an idea is scrapped that can get some flak that wouldn't have been if it wasn't for the list.
- The replies can pile up insanely, causing a top comment for this post being something for a posted idea 3 months ago or something.
- It may put additional pressure on the Beta Team by putting they're ideas and thoughts out possibly before they feel comfortable about them.
- It limits the audience for this 'sneak peek' to people who simply look at the post instead of anyone using the Beta itself. Giving a bias sample group.
That being said, I think we can thing of workarounds for these problems and bring the current beta-testers closer to the Riot Team and allow us (the testers) to have more of a capability to help. Sorry for the wall of text and Happy Holidays again!
