Click on "Boards" and sort by Recent. The post at the bottom of the list (about the same size as GD used to be) is ~20-30 minutes old.
It's much worse than the old forum (5-10 minutes) but it's still several posts per minute, more than most other forums in existence.
Doesn't mean the forum doesn't blow nuts but at least it's not devoid of activity.

xxsammyqxx1 votesIt's still terrible. The fact that they have these options is disorienting and confusing to people, which is driving them away from the jump, which explains the lack of activity we're seeing in this graveyard.

Tbh, while the naming of those options is a little weird, I don't think they're that confusing. I'd guess the bigger reason why these forums aren't seeing as much activity is the crappy mobile experience.
As I've said before: I really like board; More than GD (because: notifications). But boards was still in beta when they made the switch (and is still in beta now). You don't give people an unfinished product and expect them to like it as much as a finished product.
