Need to make the forums much more attractive to the community

The only people on the forums are trolls or Riot fanboys. It's hard to make a criticism of something in the game or that Riot does and find anyone that agrees. However, in-game or League groups outside of Riot/Reddit's domain you can find people agree with great ease.

League and Riot in general face A LOT of criticism they never get because it's drowned out by fanboys and trolls on the forums. They will completely ignore any criticism unless Dade or Jesus Christ himself says Renekton is overpowered (no, this isn't about Renekton, I mentioned him in another post so that was the first name on my mind).

So basically, anyone that doesn't agree with a point you agree with that is praising Riot is a troll and everyone who doesn't agree with a point you agree with that is against Riot is a fanboy. That's what I get out of this post. You have your opinion and others have their opinion. It doesn't make them more or less a troll or fanboy. The only trolls on the forums are people who post porn and make threads about random stuff just for the fun of it and 41noob. And the only fanboys are people who never give Riot any constructive criticism and defend everything they do no matter what. I can guarantee you that those people are very few comparitive to the population of the boards. And Renekton in no way is overpowered but that's for another thread.

  1. Well, like I said, this wasn't about Renekton's power. It was just an arbitrary name I threw out for an example. I just used his because I talked about how he doesn't have a passive in another thread.

  2. No. That's not what makes them those things. However, those are the things those kinds of people do. And that's all the forums consist of. People who will downvote a reasonably good post or literally any and all things without reason (no, i'm not talking about my own). And those people who think Riot can do know wrong, despite how much wrong they are doing.

  3. I see nobody criticize Riot ever on their boards or most of the time on Reddit. Though the best you get with Reddit is, "Oh [this champ] got Olaf'd" or something to that effect. Nobody really is like making a criticism.

2: Actually, about 60% of all votes, are upvotes.

3: I think you're confusing criticism with negativity. Either way, there's plenty of both on the Boards, IMO. Just check out any Cassiopeia thread. They're filled chock-full of criticism, both constructive and negative.

Where are you pulling that statistic?

True, Riot gets a little. But from what I can tell, Riot chooses not to listen to it. Make a couple changes on PBE and revert them a week later. And they don't seem to focus on the big issues. Like a champ with a 50% ban rate could mean that thing is fucking OP and nobody wants to deal with that. Or having a champ picked 1 in every 3 games mean it's O fucking P and everyone is trying to get their hands on it.

The stat is from a conversation with Pendragon in the CommunityPlatform chat room the other day.

Granted, I haven't been following the exact Cassio changes (I don't play her), but it seems to me like Stashu released the rework, people weren't happy with it, and now he's working with them to try to find something that's better. Specifically in regards to the PBE changes and reversions, I believe that was, "Let's try out these changes.. looks like they didn't do what we wanted them to do, let's revert them and try something else."

By all means, let's believe the company taking heavy measures to reform their community about how positive their community is. That's like Honda saying, "Our cars move better than our competitors!" Like... well no shit you'd say that, man. Gimme some 3rd party studies.

I haven't followed them much either, i kind like new Cass. Just some scaling issues. Her passive takes an eternity to ramp up, but her new sustain and changing how she was played is really neat. But why revert them? Why not just make the change to a new state anyway? You always have your live values to go back too if you've exhausted all other options. But it seems like they ALWAYS do that. Your community gives you direct feedback as to what is wrong with your character. And then you change something completely unrelated or find some convoluted work around to make them forget about the real issue. It's like nerfing Morgana's Black Shield. Yeah, that was the problem, not that entire lane width Dark Binding she has, holy hell. THAT is what everyone complained about and Riot was like, "Nah, you don't know the fuck you're talking about."

I wonder about this myself, occasionally. Quite a few Rioters handle it well and address criticism, but other times it seems that players' concerns can be ignored.

Like a champ with a 50% ban rate could mean that thing is fucking OP and nobody wants to deal with that. Or having a champ picked 1 in every 3 games mean it's O fucking P and everyone is trying to get their hands on it.

Lemme just put this out there; ban rates, pick rates, and win rates are really poor indicators of champions' power levels. These are reflective statistics, not primary. A champion's ban rate might be high because of hundreds of factors, including things like dedicated playerbase/meta/itemization/difficulty.

I believe win rates are a proper indicator because there are MANY variables, not even including skill. However, pick/ban rates are. It shows how much stock the general player base puts into that champion's strength. If like half of the player base thinks that champion is too good and would rather not risk the enemy team getting it, that pretty much means that champion is too good.

Items and meta attribute to a champions value, yes. But we all know what happens when a certain item just was MADE for that champion's kit. Like BotRK on Vayne. Holy damn, highest pick rate ADC in challenger I think. Or highest win rate. She's up there man.
