1v9 Mentality: Muting everyone and everything is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard

This is supposed to be a team game, where you work with your team to beat the enemy. Even the slightest amount of strategy works wonders in this game. However, with the direction that the League community in general has gone, less and less people even want to register that the rest of their team exists, and all it takes is so much as a single missed minion to start a titanic flamewar in the chat and make people either leave or try to force a surrender or defeat.

However, this mentality that has been exploding in popularity, just turning off all communication and ignoring absolutely everyone and everything, is one of the things that is destroying the game. It allows even a half-assedly coordinated team to run roughshod over you all day.

Almost every other game at this point has not just one person, but several people who will absolutely refuse to even be in the same quadrant of the Rift with another player, let alone talk to them or communicate in any way. This came to its logical conclusion earlier today when the jungler - as they usually are, and they're almost always Udyrs, too - flashed over the wall multiple times to prevent me from healing them when they DESPERATELY needed it.

This sort of mentality ruins games, and we need to stop it. If you have to deafen yourself and put on heavy blinders to even begin to hope to maybe have a chance at not autotilting yourself into permaban status in a game about dealing with other people, then there is something gravely wrong with you, and you need to fix that issue or just not play at all.

It's supposed to be a TEAM game but when u are paired with 4 other MONKEYS then it's no longer a team game...

I believe that under the worst and most caustic scenarios that we should take a breathe and remember that it is just a game and are all trying to have fun! However, I do accept that not everyone is able to maintain a positive outlook and demeanor when facing these sort of scenarios.

I believe that, assuming that we cannot persuade the general player base to exude positivity and calmness during all scenarios of the game, muting everyone is a necessary evil sometimes. It is better to not communicate with your allies and play to the best of your ability then to allow yourself to absorb any potential toxicity that you might sense could be sent your way, which could lead to a player becoming tilted or could lead them to reciprocate the same toxicity and end up being punished.

It is better to mute all, not type, and be thought a dotard... Than it is to lose self control followed by one's account, and therefore remove all doubt.

I'd rather people get to keep their accounts in good standing (in fact, keep their account at all!) by behaving in a consistently sportsmanlike manner.

No, thanks. Most people, especially in low elo, have no fucking idea what to do or how to play the game. I consider myself a guy who has decent game knowledge and good decision making, and it's proven often with correct shotcalling when I play with friends.

Now, I play ranked with randoms, I can't know if they are good or bad. I'd rather just follow my own gameplan that I know has high chances of success then having to work with random monkeys just to get points for teamwork. I also don't run the risk of chat flaming, that can reduce my output in the game.
