It feel like over half my games has someone who really deserves to be permanently banned.

I don't understand what is wrong with people in this game. It's like literally an every game thing where I have someone who is pissed off at the world and begins taking it out on everyone. If I tried to list out all of the different instances, there would literally be no end and I'd never finish.

The punishment system in this game is painfully bad. It gives players way too many chances and room for cushion. I HATE wasting my time having to fill out a form to make a report on someone, who probably has behavior issues every single match that doesn't go their way. No one should have too. Every single offense that can be verified by the system should be punished. This "build punishment over time" philosophy is bad for the game, and the other players who have their sanity still intact.

Every single time the system can verify negative behavior, players should be punished. It shouldn't wait for multiple instances or "extreme behavior" before it starts issuing punishments. I'm sure this would put heavy load on the detection servers, but the game is literally that bad right now that it is absolutely a necessity.

I've played probably close to 200 games this past week and I'm starting to lose myself. Not because of the amount of matches, but because in most of those matches I'm dealing with people who probably shouldn't even be allowed to play League of Legends. I've literally demoted all the way from Silver II 93 LP now all the way down to Silver IV (and I've been between those ranges repeatedly over and over). I've been playing some unusual things, which triggers people, but most of the time I'm doing consistently well. A lot of matches however, are lost not because of play, but because of players literally tilting off the face of the earth and hammering me with every insult they can think of.

Let me tell you, it's hard to maintain sanity when most of my matches involve having 6+ enemies and only a few actual teammates on my side.

According to this poll, close to 50% has been punished. https://www.strawpoll.me/18054580/r

You've played 200 games in a week?! You need to stop, like now. Seriously unhealthy no matter how you slice it.

The problem is that the League community is the expected result of an online community (particularly an online video game community) that is not at all moderated. Players are not punished for trolling/inting/griefing whatever you want to call it, nor are they punished for going afk. Yes I understand there are some exceptions to this but in large part (based on my own experience in dealing with such players, reporting them, and monitoring their accounts) these players go unpunished. They are also very lightly punished for toxicity unless they type out specific trigger words that the automated system punishes harshly for. Though to be honest the bigger issue is the deliberate ruining of games via trolling or going afk. I don't particularly care what someone wants to type in chat at this point, but I would hope Riot would at least care enough to try to punish people deliberately sabotaging games.

Unfortunately they don't care. They have made that abundantly clear with their consistent inaction.

Riot has completely abandoned the idea of having humans work to ensure that the community is a healthy one. Everything is done via automated system now and it is completely inadequate. This problem has been steadily getting worse over the past 2 years or so and it will only continue in this fashion if Riot continues to do nothing about it. There was a time when they cared and it really showed results in the quality of players I encountered. Those days are long gone and honestly after many years of playing this game I'm pretty close to giving up. Riot either doesn't care about their game anymore or they're just incapable of fixing the problem. Either way it's honestly ruining the game for me.

Ehhh i allllmost agree... but a 14 day ban first offense for gameplay offenses like griefing is alright. Idk about a permaban first offense... thats a bit harsh. At least give them a warning in the form of a temp ban before you permanently remove them. I think its an alright way to go about it, but I wouldnt be mad if they just outright permabanned em. As for verbal offenses, idk... i have no absolute opinion on those. I can see both sides. Theyre harmless to me, but hurtful to some. They have the potential to derail games due to it being hurtful to some. Idk. I dont think anything they do would ever please everyone of course. So to me, it just is what it is.

The big thing i disagree with is the notion that people shouldn't have to "waste time" filling out reports. What do you want?
