riot should take context into account for SOME cases

this would be to combat people egging players on in order to rile people up.

a verbally abusive player who ignores requests to "please stop" should have a bigger dent in thier account standing then the guy who gets fed up with it and says "dude, fuck you" before muting them.

also. before people chime in and say "dont retaliate" this post is less focused on the appeal side. and more on the review side. i agree that retaliation should be punished. what i dont agree with is the fact that the other guy isnt punished faster

There should be context in all cases. But as long as a 100% automated system is in place, it'll never happen.

Saying 'dude, fuck you' then muting is petty and childish.

Just imagine if the justice system worked in a way like League does where it only mattered what you did, not why or how.

"But your honor, I knocked out the guy who held a gun to my head and was robbing my house"

"Sorry sir, it's not the situation, it's only what you did"

The automated system only detects those getting reported multiple times. The person who got away not being reported can say what he wants as long as majority reports are against you, the person with the most evidence of being most extremely toxic/bad behavior.

Simply get a group/premade of friends, find an odd man out of the group and if he's toxic while you guys aren't trolling him. 4x report him and ask the enemy team to hopefully 5x report. Boom.

An Honor System in League for reporting Toxic players.

i think context should be taken into account for all cases.

At worst, it doesn't make a difference and the player is pardoned or punished anyways.

At best it might reveal if a player is just joking, and pardon them, or realize that the player is being passive aggressive and punish them.

Context might help for some select few cases, but generally it's not needed overall as someone else behaving poorly will never excuse your own poor behavior. This is because reports flag a review of the account in question and only hands out punishments if said account shows signs of consistently negative behavior across multiple games.
