If you don't receive a message from the buggy and unreliable instant feedback system you're going to be disappointed? You should be disappointed, but because of the crappy pop up. That player will get their due rewards, whether the pop up worked for you or not.

I think it needs made clear that the system isn't unreliable, just the notifications. Although, it's still possibly intended so as to prevent this type of witch hunting that goes on.

It's not witch hunting if they're actually a witch. so many people don't understand the proper use of the term.

It doesn't matter if they are a witch or not - witch-hunting isn't allowed. Riot doesn't want people rallying for hate against another player for any reason - even if the person being hunted has broken the rules, that doesn't give anyone else the freedom to do so themselves. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm fully aware of that. Thing is, so long as proof can be provided, there is nothing wrong with "rallying hate" against these people.

No, there is plenty wrong with rallying hate against a person, regardless of whether or not they actually broke the rules. Riot is strictly against naming & shaming and witch-hunting. You should read the Boards Universal Rules, particularly this bit which I'll c/p into this comment:

Technically, since there are no witches, the proper term is scapegoating.

Witch-hunting as a modern term is about finding someone who potentially did something wrong and punishing them without due process. The truth matters very little to it, and public perception isn't the most reliable thing in the world. It's not about finding a scapegoat for your problems like it originally was.

I'm referring to general hatred against hitler/nazism. "Oh my god rallying hate against something horrible is so bad" no it's not. things like that need to be purged.

Ah, bit of a jump from what I was talking about, but I see how it fits. I'd rather not let hate be a part of things, as I'd rather let the cold machine of due process take it's course, but people who think you have to fight hate with it's polar opposite and avoid it at all costs really bother me.

This is the only reason riot cares about "witch hunting" tbh.

See, your example there would be workable if one thing is assumed before hand; the person who left was a detriment to the community.

There are people who want to shame others for simply being bad at the game. When I started back in season 1 I was bad enough that I would regularly lose lane to bots. I didn't understand what most of the items did, or what most of the champions did, and didn't have a great grasp on the controls.

I've come a long way since then, but if people had shamed me for not being naturally skilled at League I probably wouldn't have kept playing. I'm not a troll or a flamer, so I don't really see how the community would have been "a bit better" if I had been forced away from learning the game.

The reason Riot cares about witch hunting isn't because of profit, it's because it can't be directed only at people with problematic behavior if it is allowed. If it could be I'll admit they might be willing to let it happen.

Personally I'd rather they just disable that notification for good and tell us all it won't be happening anymore. Some of the vocal people around here will say "look at them covering things up", but at the end of the day it would be for the best.

I agree. Better for the IFS to either completely send everyone every single punished report (no names obviously) or don't send any report at all. This seemingly "random" buggy or "send only to the last person who sent the report" feedback report make no logical sense at all.

Here's a flowchart of how the punishment system works. If this was his first or second punishment he would still be able to play. If this is his first instance of toxic behavior then the case against him is still being built, and being impatient and vindictive won't speed things up.
