How do you guys deal with losing streaks?

I smash my wrists against the table I play on. My family is worried about me when they see the bruises. How can I channel frustration without hurting myself?

It's important to take breaks when you get frustrated. Forcing yourself to keep going will usually only result in more frustration. Find an activity you can do to de-stress after games. Personally, I watch some Youtube or play Hearthstone, but it's different for everyone.

As for keeping your cool in the moment, I would probably recommend keeping a stress ball within your reach. It will give you a non-destructive way to vent your frustration.

I have a couple "go to" options

  1. Play my best champ in his best role (Trundle top)
  2. Play support and let others carry me (this is if I'm having bad games)
  3. Play a champ I previously had success with.....but haven't played in a while.
  4. Play ARAM games

Basically everything (except #1) is about "switching things up". It provides a fresh new game and helps you forget about previous games.

Just smash. I do it too. Got to plat from gold 5 in about 70 games, and now i've played about 280 games in plat 5 alone. just cant fucking do anything.

Play something you're guranteed to win 1/2 matches. For example my Darius has a 60% win rate so I have a good chance to win atleast 1/2 of my matches.

<play co-op <win 5 games in a row <go into matchmaking <realize the enemies arent bots <lose <repeat

Take a break.

Create a custom game with only bots and yourself. Play your favorite champion. Get super fed. Once your super fed just vent by killing the bots continuously. Its kinda funny how the bots will just walk up to you and autoattack you even though you're 57/0/12. If this doesn't help, I find that screaming into a pillow helps. Listening to music helps too.

Or just play tons of ARAM to try to cheer yourself up looks at personal match history to see only aram games

Keep playing who cares a lot of losses are determined at champion select and no one really cares anyways when on a losing streak half the time its because kids want to argue, troll, or flat out have no idea what the hell they are doing, sure lets run a bunch of squishy champions and no hard killer comp when the enemy will just all in and win every time, Purrrrfect sense.

I personally just walk away. Find something else to do for a while. Exercise. Play Civ on a lower difficulty. Watch kripp's newest videos. If you can leave the room entirely, that's even better

When I start to feel myself getting too frustrated, I try to walk away once I'm done with the match and find something else to do for a while (My wife will know when I'm getting to that point as well and comments about how that should be the last match for today). I then either go play Pokemon, go for a walk with my wife, watch LCS matches if I haven't seen them yet, or anything else that can calm me down. Punching bags with boxing gloves have also worked well for me.

Basically, for me, it was realizing my limits and making sure I walk away before I get there. If it's a ranked match, I rarely play another if I just lost one, cause I know I'd do worse if I jumped into another. In Normals, I have a bit more tolerance. Once I hit that point, though, I try to close the client and go do something else I enjoy. That's what I do.

At one point I abandoned Ranked for roughly 6 months, just because the MMR matchmaking was so bad for me then...btw Im referring to late season 5 into early season 6

Use a pillow? Stress Ball? Play music.

Your last sentence should have been your title...

Try lifting weights. It doesn't even have to be anything heavy, so no chance of injury. Your butt and leg muscles are your largest, a few squats while holding something to your chest will do a good job burning up undirected energy and frustration. Keep you back upright and let those big muscles take the load. Go very slow while you think about what's frustrating you.
