  • It's not me who got permabanned, it was someone who I played with and chatted with
  • I'm not defending toxic behavior in any form

#Preface: I wanted to share this because I think there is a stigma that players who get permabanned are these 'social outcast players with anger management issues'. And maybe that's the case for a lot of them, and what I'm showing is purely anecdotal. But what I witnessed was a player who quickly came to terms with their permaban and showed themselves to be a really chill person. People who get punished are STILL PEOPLE. Sure, some may act like scumbags behind the computer monitor, but at their core, they are still people, and the conversation with them after their ban reminded me of that.

#Context: Their permaban resulted from them raging toward me (not directly at me though) concerning our lane matchup in top lane and how unbalanced it was. They were really just raging about the game mechanics, but directing their statements towards me since I was the person playing the "unbalanced" champion Illaoi .

I didn't even take it personally. What they were claiming in game was so outrageous, I couldn't help but see their statements are irony for the sake of humor, trying to get a few laughs out of us with ridiculously outlandish behavior. I was laughing out loud about it and joking about it all chat, but my teammates took it more personally than I did and reported him, which triggered the permaban shortly after the game.

They then added me after the game, and me thinking that the joke was still going, accepted the request, and they started raging at me in the friend-chat window. Then, they logged off just out of the blue. They re-added me on their smurf to tell me that they got permabanned, and the following chat happened.

You can take the sweetest, nicest person ever and if they break a rule, they're still guilty. Their demeanor doesn't change that fact. That nice old lady who robbed a bank may still say "Please" and "thank you," but she still robbed a bank!

The misconception here is that it's very rare for someone to get a permanent ban from League after just one incident. You work your way up to it. First, you're given warnings in the form of chat restrictions. Fail to pay attention to that and you're suspended. Finally, keep it up despite the warnings and out you go. The fact that you're friendly doesn't enter in to it. You're breaking the rules you agreed to follow in order to play the game.

I always wonder why people don't "get it" until they receive the ultimate punishment. Two weeks of being locked out wasn't clue enough? Then you get back in to the game after the two weeks is up and screw up again? Clearly, you've established that you cannot learn from your mistakes. At that point, it's very difficult to feel sorry for you no matter how likeable you are.

The sad thing is, its not till they are actually punished that they finally realize how they are acting isn't appropriate. Im glad that he is one of the few that sees it that way, and hopefully with this new account he can actually change for the better!

That was literally me, i just got perma-banned and i swear i've got anger management issues. Its not like i'm a bad kid irl, I just explode sometimes.

If you're sitting next to someone and they "fake rage", you can tell from their social cues that they're not being serious.

Through a screen though, there's no way to really tell. If someone tells me they hope my children die before birth (happened in a snowdown game because I didn't ban Heimer), should I assume they only mean that with the best of intentions? o_O

This is like my fourth account. At this point I just play to punish the people that play the game.

But ya, you tell people that there are balance issues and they are abusing obviously overpowered champs and you get reported.

This community is fucking awful.

I am a permabanned player on this acc, and let me tell you. That's all fine and dandy that's he's a nice IRL person. I don't think 90% of the teenagers who play this game would have the audacity to say things that they do if not behind a screen in this game. Would probably shit their pants to say it to me face to face.

However that is the point. The game is ruined by these cowards because they constantly provoke people into getting permabanned, the one thing that player isn't learning is to accept the fact there is NO defeating toxicity in this game.

Riot is a game to us, but a business to them. To educate you guys on what this means, it means that they will only ban people up until a point where they are no longer losing business from toxicity.

If I had to put it in a graph. It should show toxicity, Money, and players left. They will only work towards making the most money and have the least amount of players leave while still having toxicity.

If this wasn't the case there would be much harsher punishments, but there's not because Riot first and foremost wants money.

Funny banter to perma. People should learn to not take things personally. Instead they report people at the end of games like Lyte is putting them on the pay roll. This community is so overly sensitive and whiny now. They should just remove chat at this point and focus on real issues. I guess the player behavior team would have nothing to do, they need verbal toxicity for job security.
