Can Riot give us better feedback on how we are doing report wise?

I wish there was better feedback from the system as to how you are doing. I mean obviously if you never type and just play and get honors you have a good understanding, but for us players in the middle of not being extremely toxic but also not a saint it can be hard to know how close you are to being punished.

I have played the game since season 1 and only been punished 1 time (on my main account) for toxicity and that was last season. It was only a chat restriction, which honestly the chat restriction part isn't a big deal. It's the drop in honor in this (in my opinion) terrible honor system that is basically a death sentence. We are talking literally hundreds upon hundreds of games to rank back up from even honor 1 to 2.

Last season I know I was being a jerk and I completely deserved to be punished. Problem was I was not ready for the climb of honor in this impossible honor system. I really would like to talk about how punishing this system really is but that's not what this post is about. It's about having at least some indication from Riot of us being reported a lot. Like seriously, before the introduction of this terrible honor system a chat restriction was your indication of a warning. It was basically "yo you need to chill out or you might get banned in the near future". But now its still a punishment but you still get dealt a death blow of dropping honor. Literally 2 freaken levels... for a chat restrict. That's like I said months upon months of games. Literally next level insane punishment.

All I ask is if you going to punish people so hard for chat (even though there is /muteall and just mute in general..........) that you give us a warning or something. Like "you have been reported xx percent more than the average person for flame, continuation of this will result in punishment". I know this won't stop everyone from flamming but a lot of us in the middle, you bet your ass we will cool it. That's literally all it takes to lower toxicity even more.

Last season was really a shock to me as to how crazy this system really is. I was legit honor 5 before season reset. Then I got up to honor 3 fairly quickly like most players. Then I was having my worst season ranked ever (literally 40% win rate after hundred games..... and I was rarely close to even worst player in those games....). I get it, I titled.... I messed up... and said some shit I shouldn't have (although 90% of it was just bitching about how bad season 8 was not about people lol). Literally only person I said terrible shit to was a legit hardcore high diamond + smurf who literally admitted in all chat to boosting. Only person I flammed harder than anyone I have flammed in my life after already being on an insane losing streak and getting wrecked in lane by them lol. And bam..... from honor 3 to honor 1 and like 15-20 game chat restrict. Like I said the chat restrict wasn't surprising... but holy fucking shit man.... the honor climb.... legit was depressing as fuck. We are talking hundreds of games.... WITH ALL CHAT DISABLED! .... ugg... Its just so bullshit lol. You have to give people some damn feedback before you hit them that damn hard.... or fix your honor system. You can't punish people this hard where you don't have Honorable opponent and you can only honor 1 ally a game. It makes no damn sense. Your a billion dollar company... how can this make sense to you?

Please just give us some damn feedback if we being worse than the average player toxicity wise. Really just anything.... I promise it will help people out a lot and make the game less toxic.

I mean, you could just not flame people in game and then you wouldn't be in danger of receiving any punishments. Riot is not your parent, the rules are clearly laid out in the terms of service and summoner's code.

A punishment is supposed to be exactly that...an action that doesn't feel good. I've been chat restricted before, and I've 100% deserved it. The loss of honor is because when you've behaved poorly enough to be punished, you are not honorable.

Define "better feedback". Because, from what it looks like you're talking about here, you're wanting to know either how close you are to de-escalating punishment tiers, or how frequently reports made against you are valid.

If it's the former, then that's really just a no-go; Riot's not going to give players indicators like that, because then people are just going to game it and try to moderate their toxicity so that they're still breaking the rules, but never actually putting their account at risk.

If it's the latter, I can see some reason for that to happen, but it's not a concept that can be applied in the general scope. You'd have to get specific with it, detailing how such clarity and feedback would be given, as well as making sure that such information can't be gamed and doesn't cause undue stress - I.E, a "warning system" would likely result in players mistakenly believing that they're being punished when they aren't.

As an aside, I hate seeing following basic behavioral guidelines compared to sainthood. Surely to god, it shouldn't be that difficult to follow the golden rule - "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all"? Maybe, just maybe, things would be a lot easier if you stopped making the bare minimum behavioral expectation seem like an unreachable goal.

You don't just regain someone's trust overnight if you prove to be untrustworthy. Honor progression in general is supposed to be a nearly year-long affair, it only makes sense that you have to spend more time if you prove to be dishonorable.

And, like GatekeeperTDS said, it's a punishment. It's supposed to hurt, elsewise, it wouldn't communicate that you shouldn't be doing what got you punished in the first place.

Problem was I was not ready for the climb of honor in this impossible honor system. I really would like to talk about how punishing this system really is but that's not what this post is about.

No reason that you can't talk about the Honor System, considering that your opinions of said system seem to be part and parcel with the main discussion point of the post.

The Honor drop from a Chat Restriction (assuming it's the first punishment) is down to Honor Level 1; it doesn't matter what Honor Level you're at, it will drop you to Honor Level 1 on the first offense, then Honor Level 0 (Dishonorable) on the second anon.

That said, the first Chat Restriction still functions perfectly well as a warning. It places you just within reach of being Honorable (Honor Level 2) again so that you know "hey, you can lose out on a lot of shit if you break the rules", while still giving you room to earn back the base-level stuff (Clash Eligibility, End-of-Season Reward Eligibility, etc.)

And if you think that's insane, then it should give you ample reason to follow the rules you agreed to. Riot doesn't ask much, just don't be toxic or spread excessive negativity. Don't insult or flame others, don't intentionally feed or troll, etc.

All I ask is if you going to punish people so hard for chat (even though there is /muteall and just mute in general..........)

The existence of the mute feature does not exempt you from the rules you agreed to. It is your responsibility to maintain your agreement, not other people's responsibility to guard against it when you decide to break it.

...that you give us a warning or something. Like "you have been reported xx percent more than the average person for flame, continuation of this will result in punishment".

There is merit to this idea, but it would have to be handled carefully. As I mentioned before, if the warning isn't presented properly, people could assume that they've been punished, and frankly, I imagine it'd get ignored if it just popped up like the usual Honor message of "You've been Honored x amount of times by non-premades, here's a Key Fragment!".

The issue is that when you give players warnings and feedback, it enables them to avoid punishment and game the system.

You should be on your best behavior all the time, not just when you're close to a punishment.

Perhaps a system that notifies you every time you're validly reported?

But fuck honor man, you should not let that system control you. It's worthless if you have a lot of keys lol

riot doesnt care. They want to ban people and their customer service team gives 0 shits about how the community feels... They havent changed anything the community asked for in terms of this stuff.

nm10107/8/2019, 7:38:12 PM2 votes

From what I remember, they do this. I have gotten a warning in the past, something along the lines of "Hey nm1010, we know that everyone has bad days, but taking it out on your teammates isn't cool. Please type 'I understand' in the box below to continue to the client".

Better?

It would be nice if they gave us any feedback at all.

Nea1047/8/2019, 8:10:53 PM1 votes

Good idea, but I bet they will never do something like that. Mainly because their system is little more than a fake facade. I think it's because their playerbase has dropped too much, so they cannot afford to take the risk to lose even more people.

Not even people saying "k... y.." are punished anymore, unless you don't waste your time sending a ticket. "0 tolerance" words are not that anymore, apparently: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/gmBbR6xh-k-y-isnt-punished-anymore-just-because-its-aram

While the automatic system may not pick this up all the time, saying it in the negative context in combination with it being reported does result in escalated punishments. It is treated differently from other things that would normally get a chat restriction.

I understand there is a "zero tolerance" list which the punishment automation got a separate system for, so could I get some examples of other words on that list? Or perhaps it doesn't matter what section I file the report under, as long I report it at all.

I got called a "ret.ard" (gg word filter) earlier today for missing a single Bard ultimate (max range; mistimed the travel time), and I reported that person for it. To be honest, I get the sense I report so frequently, my reports doesn't matter anymore.

While I do include the reason almost every time (in my mind, if I cannot give a reason for the report, it's not valid), I haven't seen a report card in several months. Whether the report was regarding words or phrases like "gg ez", "noobs", "ret.ard" (does it even see the quotation marks?) or "KYS".

EDIT: 12.07-19 If that's the best you got, Mod, then screw the word filter!

i would be happy with this, i just got a 2 week ban (maybe a bit to much, but for sure a milder ban is deserved) completly out of the blue. if they indeed gave a warning like u are close to getting banned/punished, i would for sure have calmed myself down more. It also sucks cuz now i cant play for the arcade pass because it came completly unexpected. With this system i doubt i'll ever buy passes again, cuz league is just to damn frustrating.
