Taking away season rewards does more harm than good. and here's why

while i understand the idea of taking away end of season rewards for toxic players. i feel it may be doing more harm than good.

  • it brands players who had them taken away. especially now in the preseason with a scarlet letter. or even worse. players who haven't lost thier rewards. but dont play ranked may become casualties as well

*it encourages people to "flamebait" trying to get people banned.

*borderline negative players who are legitimately trying to reform. are given less motivation to do so. and are likely to be targeted even more by the people mentioned above

*it's unfair to have a whole year's worth of work taken away for one game or one bad tilt.

*trolls who lost thier rewards are more likely to make smurfs and troll new players

You've listed 4 ways (Number 4 on your list is false) that taking away season rewards can potentially cause harm.

Can you show how those 4 reasons outweigh the huge amount of good that comes from giving people who care about ranked a serious reason to improve their behavior?

This was actually a post a while ago? No one is going to check as much as you think they are.

Also maybe you should have avoided that 14 day ban. It's not ONE game. It's MULTIPLE games.

  1. Good. They should be branded imo.
  2. Agree completely
  3. You could argue the opposite and still be correct (that they would be motivated to not have their rewards taken from them)
  4. Not unfair. It's the way things are done and if they dont approve they are free to leave.
  5. This happens anyway.

Overall i still think the season rewards should still be taken from toxic players if they receive punishment.

Literally nobody cares whether or not you have a border. I have never seen anyone "branded" or being treated poorly/differently because they didn't have a border and must therefore be a "negative player".

And hey, guess what, if they are giving you shit for it (which I don't actually believe anyone is) you can just report them and move on. It's real simple.

Taking away season rewards was punishment for not playing by the rules of the game. It was well deserved. Plain and simple.

also. just because people are "responsible for their own actions" doesnt mean that players trying to bait others into getting banned, isnt a problem

I agree with the taking away of season rewards for toxic players. but in defense of his point. I did get a 14 day ban after 1 offense w/o any prior chat restrictions because I called my duo partner "codename: Queerboy" in game repeatedly. I got reported and auto banned. I'm sad that there was seemingly a lack of context in the ban, but I broke the rules, I pay the price.

I disagree with every point you made.

Taking away rewards had a simple objective in mind:

If you're someone who nobody else wants to play with, then you don't deserve the same rewards that decent human beings get.

It's like letting convicted felons purchase firearms. You commit a crime, you don't get the freedom to buy guns.

It must suck being called out for a mistake right? Like to have your mistake thrown in your face for a long period of time over and over again long after it was done... to be judged as a person for that mistake and have your life threatened or suggested that your mother was raped and you are the unholy spawn of that and thats why you suck... Oh whoops i started drifting into in-game chat from toxic people geez... Yea it sucks to be called out for something, to be branded for one or two mistakes by someone. Its called karma, if you don't like being branded as a Toxic person stop branding other players as "Garbage" or "trash" or "noobs"...

it encourages people to "flamebait" trying to get people banned.

Yea this is ridiculous... you are responsible for your own actions.

borderline negative players who are legitimately trying to reform. are given less motivation to do so. and are likely to be targeted even more by the people mentioned above

wth taking away the rewards IS the motivation to reform or to not be toxic in the first place. You don't want them taken away? Stop being toxic...

it's unfair to have a whole year's worth of work taken away for one game or one bad tilt.

You knew the rules and broke them anyways... Learn self-control. Besides it takes more than 1 game to get banned.

trolls who lost thier rewards are more likely to make smurfs and troll new players

Trolls and toxic people make smurfs and troll or flame new players regardless of whether they are banned or not. This is also not an excuse to not ban them... this logic is bad.
