Rallying for reports on a player is reportable

Can a Rioter create a stickied thread or at least reply here to confirm, so that there is an easy to access Rioter post about this?

I've had to explain to many players in the last few days that asking for reports on other players, in all chat or in team chat, is reportable. They either don't believe me, say that it's hearsay, or want source, and I can't find it easily. But I have seen Rioters comment on punishment threads, listing "rallying for reports" as an offense.

I'm happy to shed some light on this.

It only takes 1 report for a game to be reviewed. Punishments (for verbal types) are based entirely on the contents of YOUR chat.

Getting reports beyond 1 does not increase the chance or speed of a game being reviewed. So, the next time you encounter that player spewing off hate speech, just mute them and report them after. There is no reason to ask other players to report them.

It only takes a single report for a game to be reviewed. I'm not sure why you think, or where you heard that something takes 3 reports.

You will end up reported for asking for reports on others because there is no need for it. The only reason to ask for more reports is to flaunt it in the person's face that you are reporting them.

The reason people ask for reports is because many seasons ago that is actually how the system worked iirc: the more reports someone got, the faster their case would be reviewed in the tribunal, and the the more reports in a game, the more likely that it will be one of the games reviewed in their case. I still do think that, even though they state only one report is enough to flag a game, that more reports in a single game will make that game be prioritized for review compared to a game with much fewer reports. The issue is, if they ever make a statement about it, it'll just restart the report bandwagon, which is why they only state that one report is enough to flag a game. It's obvious that constantly asking for reports is considered "toxic", but it will be a while until that behavior dies out, especially with older players who were around when bandwagoning reports made the game be reviewed faster.

Well if they're asking legitly, then it shouldn't be reported and you should report who they ask to. If they're lying, you should report the one asking. . If you don't know whether they're lying or not, well no action should be taken.

Its fine to say "ok, lets just report this riven after" Its different to say "Fuk this riven, "all chat": Everyone report this bitch trolling riven"

Classic Riot bs.

Want to inform the players that only 1 report per game is needed? Fine. Want to encourage players to spread the word? That's great. Make asking for reports a punishable offense? Nooooo.

This whole part about "flaunting" seems more personal projection than anything. Perhaps the players asking for the reports legitimately don't know only one report per game is counted (how would they unless they read the forums?!).

Hell, now that I think of it, why DOES Riot limit it to one report per game? So long as the multiple reports aren't coming from the same premade, I don't see any abuse case, and I think there's valuable data in distinguishing between the support that gets reported by his butthurt ADC in a game they win anyway and 4 reports against the Tyler1 that runs it down mid because his support made one small mistake.

I had a Support Lee Sin Int feeding mid lane, with the enemy obviously picking up on it. I asked please report Lee, as he was trolling. The enemy did so when I asked.

Id state that it depends on context (like literally everything that comes with reporting).

Asking for people to report someone who AFKd or DCd or whatever is likely fine.

Asking for people to report someone you just dont like, and repeatedly doing so when you were a part of the confrontation isnt, especially if you ask the enemy team to report someone who did literally nothing in all chat, so theyd have no proof of it.

Essentially, like everything else, depends on what was stated, how it was stated, etc.

Ahh yes. Reminds me of a few days ago When Yasuo wanted to Report me for Scripting (Disclaimer: I wasn't scripting.)

"Wow ok Morde scripting pls report"

But the funniest part of it all

Was that Yasuo was on My team.

Yeah, I disagree with it.

(disagree that it should be reportable, not that it is)

hell i still do it. downvote if you want but im not seeing how asking for extra reports is toxic

DG Banks7/24/2016, 5:27:24 PM1 votes

i have heard that as well , but after I report people for: spamming please report Player X in all chat: I never see a punishment for it. That I know of at least.

I understand that a certain type of asking for reports is bannable: "report fizz feed/troll" etc

but what about in ARAM when we get bots in our game doing really badly like 0/20/0 doing nothing but turret diving over and over, sometimes I'll say 'report bots' or 'if you see botting in pvp, report it plz' at the end without saying their name, I wonder if they would consider this asking for reports.

I would never ask for a 'new/bad or annoying' player to be reported, but if they are a bot they need to get banned ASAP.

scazzman7/24/2016, 8:52:46 PM1 votes

from my understanding. asking for reports is "toxic" however the system wont punish you for it unless you hurl insults on the side, do it every single game, ask for reports 50 times in a game or are coming off a 14 day ban.

Arakadia7/24/2016, 11:21:47 PM1 votes

Why is it a bad thing?

redfeenix7/25/2016, 2:06:40 AM1 votes

Meh I think its okay to vent your frustrating and ask the enemy team to report a player. Thats just the natural part of the game ie the losing team says: gg report singed for toxic, or gg report cho for feeding , or gg report yorick for AFK. I think thats totally fine.

Whats not fine is harassing / forcing people into reporting people.

What do you think. I think that saying gg report lux or something shouldnt be bannable at all..
