Why is this a Bannable Offense?

Smite Support Singed or Nunu.

I understand that there is such a thing as legit trolling but I don't get why its considered trolling when you play that stuff by default. Keep in mind, I am not trying to say its not unusual or automatically suspicious but I think its fun. It does in all seriousness have a few upsides as well as downsides.

Pros:

  1. Both Singed and Nunu are powerful late game champs, with quality teamfight. They also both have power in side lanes, mid game, and the ability to stall out a game.
  2. A good Singed can always be useful, if the 0/17/0 Singed can win then no amount of being behind matters for such a champ.
  3. With new camp timers, getting counter-jungled is super punishing. A support that can clear a jungles non starting side or steal a buff level one without putting forth the risk of delaying your own jungler is amazing and i am surprised smite support isn't more common because of it.
  4. Smite is really good for chasing down people. Nunu is already impossible to get away from if you don't have a mobility cooldown up, smite only makes that more powerful
  5. Full Consume, plus smite, plus smite again is 3000 true damage for objective securing. That's absurd.
  6. Holy hell, if the singed is proxying, the Dives that can be gotten off in both mid and top, especially with the jungler behind as well as probably wasting their life chasing either of them

Cons:

  1. Singed and Nunu do not have dominant lane presences, requiring a AD with some form of their own set up in order to get in range for the lockdown. Meaning anyone other than Cait, Jinx, or Draven probably don't go well with it.
  2. Both play styles encourage the support to constantly be out of lane, leaving the AD vulnerable to 4 man gang bang. However, if done right, the jungler should be useless, the midlaner shouldn't be able to freely roam with a dangerous tank with high chase potential roaming about as well
  3. There are plenty of immobile ADs that can't 1v2 botlane, but that isn't a bannable offense. Thats like banning regular singed or Nasus for never grouping and just death pushing down the base

Long story short, it doesn't seem like its auto trolling unless Riot is just mad about people playing stuff other than Top Mid Jungler Bot Support roles as standard

because if you're a support, then your role is protecting and supporting your lane partner, not leaving them by themselves while you go do something else.

remember that the person you're supporting is likely an attack damage carry, meaning they are doing to do consistent damage and are meant for taking towers, inhibs, and help a lot with epic monsters due to their sustained damage, meaning that late-game they are what help a lot with objectives, and league is an objective based game.

or at least, that's why it WAS bannable.

rito derped and is now caving in to the peer pressure from the players instead of being serious about the rules of in-game behavior.

now see here's the difference.

Bard itself is DEFINED as a roaming support. You should know what to expect from a bard, plus he's a support as it is to start.

the smite support singed did not communicate at all with his teammates at all and basically only said "This is what I play, so that's what I'm going to play, and I'm going to do it the way I want." without considering what his teammates thought or felt about it, not only that but it is a DUO lane so whoever their partner is is going to have to try to coordinate and put up with some VERY off-meta playing that could very well screw them over. It is this sort of relationship where you and the other person bot should know what to expect from each other, and yet they go and say "no, I'm not doing what you expect of me, I do what I want." behavior that caused a very negative gameplay experience and this caused their punishment.

Though as some time has passed it seems riot has taken a "Well, I suppose as long as winning is their intent, we'll let it slide" approach which sounds like BS to me as it encourages bullshitting and trolling so long as it "appears" that they are trying to play to win.

I really wish they defined the roles more clearly to state that the support is the role that is meant to help their lane partner both defend and attack in coordination, as a team, whether they are supporting a marksman, or any other class, but that supporting them is what they should be doing (or at least until we start grouping and other teammates nearby are also targets for supporting and helping out.)

If what your saying about roles was valid, then Riot should make off-meta picks in general a bannable offense because its not what people expect. No, the gae is designed to be played how people wish, not by what you feel is the best tactic. if 3 top 1 bot 1 mid is the strat people want to try, thats their issue. Bot lane isn't somehow entitled to have a support in lane with them. Their fun doesn't supercede the fun of the other player just because they're a carry role

if you want to try something different, try playing with something like a pre-made first, where they are aware of what they're going to try to do so they are all in on it and aware of how their team tactics and strategy are going to work, that way they all know what's going on and your team is going to try to do to beat the other team.
