Banning picks that other people hover in champ select should be considered griefing and reportable

How is this not a reportable offense?

So many people ban picks because they don't like the champ, find it funny, do it because they won't switch etc..... how is it not reportable when they intentionally want to make you dodge and wait the 15 minutes and/or take the lp loss? Riot take away the ability to ban other people's intended champion picks, or at least make it a reportable offense that they can actually get punished for. It's not hard to detect when someone routinely bans picks that their own team hovers consistently.

How do you determine if they banned it because they didn’t like you, or because they didn’t like the champ?

The ban mechanic of the game has priority over the pick mechanic - you can always pick another champion, but you cannot ban a champion already picked. Thus, someone is permitted to ban any champion for any reason.

If they are toxic in chat (i.e. harassing you to switch and/or being negative towards you when they ban, then that is reportable as a chat offense/negative attitude.

And instead of actually punishing players in game or bans etc... just take away a player's champion bans for 10 games, moving up to 25 games if they consistently abuse the banning phase.

If you are last pick and want a highly OP/contested pick that I want to ban...sorry I am going to ban the champion.

I'll report them at the end of game. Probably won't do any good, but maybe if they rack up enough reports, something will happen.

WHAT WE REALLY NEED is a loading screen message saying "you can ban whatever champ you want its no rulebreak" usually i always ban the same champ. vel koz. I CAN NOT stand this champion EVER. i hate him and i cant tell you why. even if my teammates want to pick him. and ofc always "OMFG YOU ARE A TROLL REPORT I WILL INT YOU FUCKING TROLL DESERVE TO LOSE" lets ignore the fact that a troll is someone who WANTS TO LOSE and you making him lose is actually what he wants... its no rulebreak.

Yeah no I don't want Yasuo in my game, I don't care if you've hovered him (unless you're first pick). But I'd rather not take the risk of my last pick trying to get that highly contested 55% winrate champ while the enemy could easily pick them first.

It's abusable. I had a player ban my pick and then say in game that he was trolling champ select to try and get someone to dodge.

Though I've seen it used a few times when people really really really REALLY didn't want to play with a champ they didn't like. I only used it once when a teammate wanted to play support Ornn and he had a literally 0% win rate with him and this was ranked. Funnily enough that's the only time I've seen others besides the person wanting to play the banned champ get upset. Everyone else said they would 4 main report me if I didn't dodge. I told them they can do that if the wish and just played the game. We actually ended up winning though so it all worked out.

Unfortunately, just like insta-lock in blind, anyone can ban any champ they want. If this is becoming a problem for you, then just stop hovering your intend (which is optional). Just like everything else, you should be ready to play more than 1 champ in any particular role.

It's a very dick move to ban a teammate's pick intend, but people can use their personal ban choice for anything they want.....MOST ESPECIALLY when it comes to ranked and a day 1 champion release hint hint. I don't see why this should be reportable or punishable despite it being a dick move.

Unless that champion is Yasuo. I learned the hard way last night that being nice and not banning him, so a team mate could play it, was the worst mistake of my life. Dude went 4/15 or something and lost my series. So, nah. I'll be banning YAS everygame if you or people like you hover him or not. Those who don't learn from their mistakes are prone to insanity.
