Toxicity or Trolling - Did I do the right thing?

I was playing a normal blind game and my team was having fun. My Team comp Top - Riven , Duo Mid - Fizz Brand , Bot - Bard , JG - MasterYi ( Me),

Enemy Team comp Top- Garen , Mid - Zed , Bot - Lux KogMaw , JG - Graves

As you can see, mid was kinda trolling yet having fun. Game lasted ~45 mins and at the end MasterYi had 39/8. Which I think is primarily becuz I being only ADC and bard was awesome.

Here comes the bad part, after game was over kog started verbal abuse, spamming. At first I thought she/he was being a sore loser. Player just kept on saying shit and said we should all die ( many time) and tonight. He went on say how Yi is shit, how he gets banned in ranked blah blah.

I was really disturbed, annoyed and also surprised that losing a game would make a person so salty and toxic. I checked that players profile and seems to be a friend one... yet the level toxicity is surprising.

I decided to report and did report the player.

Did I do the right thing or should have just let it go?

Reporting someone that broke the rules is always the right thing to do.

Anyway, you know there's an ignore feature right?

You absolutely did the right thing by reporting him. Stooping to his level and replying back would have only led to more toxicity, and you would be doing the same thing he did.

As long as you're playing the game trying to win... you're not trolling. Are you AP varus? Cool. Are you duo mid? Cool. Top Jhin? Ok. ADC Pantheon? Fine! Just play to win the game. Off meta picks are fun and unless it's ranked, just enjoy the game. Off meta is NOT trolling.

You did the right thing reporting the rager.

You definitely did the right thing in reporting the Kog'Maw. As the League of Legends community, we don't need toxic players to ruin our games. It's one thing to be salty about a loss, it's another thing to take a salty loss out on other players.

Also, trolling isn't the same thing as playing something off-meta. Playing something off-meta means that you do something that isn't normally done, but at the end, you are still trying to win the game. Trolling means you are intentionally trying to lose the game.
