it is highly inappropriate to trash talk ur opponent when they are having connection issues and u had gain advantage because of it. It is already frustrating to be lagging/disconnecting/have inconsistent connection, please don't abuse your opponent. appreciate the free win u got and show your respect toward the player. You don't have to show mercy, but at least don't be that Jerk.
I generally can't tell if the enemy is lagging (as opposed to maybe just BMing me by standing still) and I like to assume that banter (and emote spam) is always friendly. If you're upset about losing because of your latency it doesn't hurt to say "I'm having trouble because I'm lagging, please stop" because most of us playing are decent people that just want to have fun and assume in good faith that other players are the same and will just plain stop when asked.
Hell, I've been the guy that stood off to the side and danced with the enemy team in ARAM because they had an afk from the start and let most of the match be a 4v4 until they came back or the enemy tried to attack me. Some people just don't WANT a fair fight, I guess.
Moral of story, you can just ask the enemy to not be jerks and often enough they will.

Generally, my taunting only brings torture to myself (curse you jungle role!). However, if the enemy is lagging and they say it, I will more or less stop depending on how he said it. If he said it nicely, then of course I'll stop, I only taunt in light fun (read: competitive mindset) but if they say it like an asshole (i.e stfu u little *** i'm lagging u piece of sh*t) then I'm going to keep doing it.
If u dont have to show mercy then that means i can be a jerk, I mean lets be real here if a player track record could be shown on how many times they get this problem then there repeat offenders and still dont give a fack about team wether they lose or not. These poeple should get perma banned.

Of the few times I've played top and had my enemy DC early on when they get back I typically won't attack them until they are at least lvl 6, but if they try to fight me that's another story
It's inappropriate to trash your opponent in any circumstance.
Banter is much more light and fun.
