I did report someone in the previous game which I played with twice who was very obviously trolling (Suicides level 1 both games, horrible item builds, purposefully dying to lose the game multiple times.) and who most people reported. Is that what it was?
Yes, there are pop ups when someone you reported gets banned.
You should note that those pop ups are pretty rare since they only show up when the game you reported them in was the final game that lead to their punishment.

It depends entirely on what the message said. IF it was a notification that someone else got punished it should have said something to the effect of "A player you recently reported has been punished."
