What do you do if someone makes threats to you on the boards?

You can report it as harassment with the button at the bottom left of the post, otherwise not a whole lot.
I'd just move on, I know the exact poster you are referring to.

you turn off your computer and take 4 deep breaths and realize cyber bullying isnt real and threats cant affect you over the internet
you can try submitting a ticket and linking proof in it so that riot can check it out without publicly naming/shaming.

Report it and Screen Shot / Support ticket, If you feel like "Calling the police for Laughs" even though the kid likely can't deliver, then feel free depending on the threat being made never know, was watching the news with some people who posted violent stuff to Face Book before actually doing some stuff IRL to others.

Naming and shaming refers to making a post on the boards about the player. The boards are for discussion, not reporting.
Take a screenshot, copy a link to the thread, and make a support ticket with both included if you don't feel the built in report function is enough.
