You will never be unbanned

The amount of toxicity that it takes for you to get to the point where Riot decides they don't want you around anymore is a very fine line, and it's further away from normal behavior than you want to force yourselves to think. When you force yourself to autotilt, sabotage games by intentionally feeding or going AFK, and scream racist obscenities in the allchat (and I mean SERIOUS racism), you are well beyond that line.

You won't get your account back because you claim to have reformed or because you have spent some $2000+ on the game. The amount of money you've spent on the game is not insurance against your own douchebaggery. If that's the cost of you learning to control yourself, then so be it. You are in control of your own actions; muting yourself will not stop you from sabotaging games or forcing yourself to autotilt over the tiniest things.

Don't try to argue the point to support your own toxicity. I've heard every possible argument you could fabricate more times than any of you will ever hope to dream to be able to count.

Taking 2k from someone is pretty absurd. Removing their ability to use chat on a permanent basis is a far better business move. Strictly from a financial perspective, deleting someone's account when they've put in TWO THOUSAND dollars to your game is just grossly negligent. Perma-Banning chat use? That's understandable.

Gibberwatt4 votes

It's true that 2k is rather a lot of money, but there are two issues with this: 1: Spending 2k on a game. Like, what? Did you go out and buy every single skin? Why would you do that? That is an insane amount of money to spend on a video game you won't care about in 20 years. 2: You knew you spent 2k on this account. If you did that, why would you jeopardize that by being toxic/racist/inting/whatever? That seems like poor decision making skills. Especially with the tier system of punishments.

Verl0h1 votes

I've spent 1200 since Season 4 on skins and gifting. And every skin in the game would cost like 5k.

Rainfall2 votes

that was your choice, just like you dont get extra damage in game for buying skins you dont get better treatment for spending money on the game. It does not matter if a player has spent 1 or 10000 dollars in the game,if you use boosting services or harass other users,or int games you get banned.

Verl0h1 votes

99% percent of toxic content in the game is a back&forth scenario. I've rarely seen one-sided harassment. But third-party programs? Completely agree with that sentiment.

zPOOPz2 votes

Not too sure about that 99%....

ALL my harassments are one-sided. The moment someone starts the blame/flame game, I mute.

I assume it is the same for the majority of the player base because they are not punished for going back and forth with the blamer/flamer.

It is more like 99% of toxic content is one-sided harassment....

So I'm in the 1 percent where when someone calls me useless I laugh to myself and carry on playing? I don't respond to it. And even if that person makes a good play, I say "gj". I don't take it personal. They're frustrated, and they deal with useless teammates all the time, so do I, so I'm not gonna take it personal. However, you bet your ass I will be reporting them, because if they called some other kid useless, there's a good chance that kid would retaliate and it would turn into a chat war. So the only way for that person to learn, is by a report and a message from Riot showing them what they did wrong, because I know they aren't gonna listen to me. I'm useless, after all.

AriCei1 votes

This doesn't teach them anything... there is no opportunity to learn

Telephone Booth1 votes

All they need to learn is that you will get punished. They already know calling someone useless is an asshole thing to do, they just need to figure out that you can get punished for it. A warning from Riot or a chat restrict or something with a message will help then come to that realization. Me telling them that it's punishable will only make them want to insult me more.

The opportunity to learn is the warning/chat restrict.

AriCei1 votes

Yeah ok I can see we aren't going to have a meaningful discussion about this- not enough critical thinking going on, thanks for the response!

Telephone Booth1 votes

Hmm.. maybe I missed your point? What about my post says "not a discussion"? I didn't passive aggressively insult you, I was on topic. I responded directly to your point. Are you sure you hit the right comment to reply to?

Do you disagree with the premise that they already know calling someone useless is an asshole thing to do? I mean, you didn't really give me anything meaningful to go off of. You just said "this doesn't teach them anything... there's no opportunity to learn".

I guess I'll ask you, what is the better way to go about being called useless?

AriCei1 votes

Alright. I'm sorry if that seemed like I was upset, I literally just feel like we aren't getting anywhere with this, it's too full of empty points because we view the issue in 2 fundamentally different ways.

"The opportunity to learn is the warning/chat restrict." This is false in my view. That's like saying you had an opportunity to learn calculus by having a math book thrown at you.

"Do you disagree with the premise that they already know calling someone useless is an asshole thing to do?" My view of this is a bit more nuanced- not a fan of black and white. Basically, if I call someone useless who is undeniably being useless, when they are trying to blame their crap on me? It's not really an asshole thing to do. Even at the worst of times, it's excruciatingly tame, and I don't think warrants any serious punishment under any circumstances.

Telephone Booth1 votes

Fair enough. But if they are being undeniably useless and NOT blaming you, not even talking in chat, and you call them useless (even if they are doing very little)? I never blame anyone for anything, and it's rare that people flame me, but it happens. Sometimes it's just out of nowhere too... like everything is normal except for the TF mid ulted to bottom and killed my adc, suddenly I'm useless cuz I can't fucking teleport down there to help? Lol you know? If they call me useless there, that's when I laugh to myself like wow what an idiot this guy is. Blames me for TF having the ability to ult across the map. It doesn't hurt my feelings, but some other players would have their feelings hurt by that, and they'd retaliate and it would spiral into a chat war between team members.

But anyways, I guess we agree to disagree as you said.

AriCei1 votes

Yeah this kinda gets into that minority report world where you are just indiscriminately punishing potentially/lightly negative behaviour in the hopes it will stem toxicity at large in the community. My view is that it won't and it's wrong.

Telephone Booth1 votes

Yeah I hear ya. Maybe they experienced exactly that and it spiraled into this zero tolerance policy that we now have. Idk. I'm glad we came to a more common ground at least. Or that I at least have a better understanding where you're coming from.

Lately it's been popular to sabotage games. You can't chat ban a person who actively sabotages games to slake his inadequacy.

As I said, the amount of money you drop on a game is not insurance against your own shitty behavior. That sends the message that money can forgive your abhorrent actions, which sets up a bad precedent not just in League or the gaming industry in general, but society as a whole, and it creates a horrible toxic culture. Which has happened, and that's why the world is in the shitty state it's in now.

AriCei1 votes

Yeah don't get on a soapbox about society and how to fix it if this is your answer- an ill thought out, out of touch "justice system" in a video game that uses an AUTOMATED system to examine out of context "cases" and pass generic punishment as it sees fit.

Lost R1 votes

Let me put it this way: you have to try VERY hard to actually get punished in this game, and even harder to get permabanned. I'm one of the most cold, bitter and literally cutthroat supports you will ever deal with, and I've yet to be punished because I know how to compose myself properly, and I don't ruin games for people. The people who get punished are far, far, FAR worse than me. It's much more difficult than what people on this forum will make you believe, and they make it easy to get punished because they use the extremely common and easily flaggable League vocabulary.

If they post CLEAR AND CONCISE RULES and you break those CLEAR AND CONCISE RULES and get banned then that's on you. If you get to the point where you get perma'd regardless of the money you spend, then you need to find a different game to play. PUBG doesn't care about what people type or yell into their headsets. Try that.

You can also try other MOBAs like DOTA or HoS though I don't know what their rules are. They might be just as strict.

AriCei1 votes

Yeah this is the kind of out of touch demonizing that lead to this system in the first place. Check out my post on restorative justice in league if interested, but I'm guessing not.

A lot of people have a lot of crap going on in their lives, and still like league as an outlet to help them. They might be quicker to anger, and more inclined to argue with flamers than mute them, and those people will get permabanned as well.

Taking away their chat makes sense. Punishment fits the crime. Taking away their count is hilariously archaic justice that is still sadly pretty prevalent in a lazy society that doesn't want to deal with it's issues but instead hide from them.

Blind belief in the rules as if they are somehow incapable of being structured wrong or unfairly, is how we've run into so many problems in human history... It's not an argument to support them.

This is true for both people who flame and people who don't. It does not excuse their behavior.

They tried that with the infinitely stacking chat restrictions. The punished players would resort to other ways to express their frustration, such as trolling or intentionally feeding. We're all aware that the systems for detecting that type of behavior sucks compared to the language system, why convert one problem into another?

I'd be all up for a punishment in between 14 day ban and permaban. I think there are some players who don't realize how seriously the system treats chat restrictions and only start changing when they get a 14 day ban, but need more time to get it right. I'm all for that. I'm all up for making the punishment tiers more clear to people on every punishment, so they clearly know what's going to happen if they continue.

However, I don't agree with the notion that you should be dependent on a computer to stop you from talking. Asking players to show some level of self control is a good thing. It's frankly amazing that anyone allows themselves to get permabanned, fully knowing that they will lose the hundreds or thousands of dollars they spent on the account.

Bot With Dumbass2 votes

yea i aggres some one who has been perma and spent 1k on the game i felt robbed i aggre with verloh there should be no perma ban but say 14 days then a month and then 6 then after that reset if you are finally not toxic and then if u get to this point you are no longer allowed to type in chat

Lost R1 votes

Then how are people expected to reform if the worst punishment is a light rap on the knuckles? Besides, a few naughty words is the least of what many players do these days.

well its beter than a perma ban 1 year is even understandable, but forever thats fcking hard man like riot you can give people a perma chat ban for like 1 year or ban them for like 6 monthhs instead of getting rid of them whats the point of getting rid of them like it doesnt even make sense. Counter strike bans toxic players for 1 month perma ban they should do the same they loosing players daily and its not making anything beter,.

there is over 60,000 perma ban reports in this boards and riot does nothing about it atleast give chance for the reformed ones like dont tell me that people dont deserve a chance to prove them selves they were wrong and theyve comeback from it like if i get a last chance i will never talk its that simple and im sure there are those like me who are waiting the day where riot atleast does someting about perma bans we just pray homie.

They tried giving perma bans a chance once.

They let them make new accounts and if they could make it to level 20 without any toxicity they could have their main accounts back.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of them failed.

So riot has said never again.

You were perma for a reasons and they want to keep it that way.

well thats my point right there, just because some of them chosed not to be polite and be friendly member of the community doesnt mean other players who really want last chance would do the same. like those kids deserved their bans and ruined it for every other perma ban reformed players for the game man im so sad.[sg-ahri-1]

the way i see it is that Roit making a fraud if they ban some account that spent $$$ on it . they can easily make sure he is chat mute for a month ! or if he feed send him to 50 games on Low p or if he keep feeding maybe ban him for the season and only allow to play him unrank . the fact they ban someone account that spent money because he had a bad day and he called someone %%%%%% KYS . we all had those days so i don't think its fair .

It's perfectly fair. The rules are made plain and clear about what you can and can't say. If you keep up in the news at all you can see people are getting tried and CONVICTED (as in sent to prison) for telling people to "kys" and the people they harass actually do it.

Before you even play the game you click the "I accept" button on a box agreeing to abide by those rules and that failure to do so can result in harsh punishments including permanent suspension.

Spending money doesn't make you exempt from following the rules and quite frankly I don't care how much you spend on this game. If your in the same games I'm in and you're raging and flaming, using hate speech, and telling people to kill themselves then I don't want you playing with me.

If you think that's "unfair" then you are more than welcome to go play other games. Just don't let the door hit you on the way out. It's a very nice door and we hate it when it gets all smudged up with ass prints.

well did i say they never give me a chance, i dont mean to be rude or anything but you gota understand what im talking about first.
