I've been doing this crazy thing...

... called apologizing. To my teammates.

You know how you get into those arguments because someone messed up, and the person who messed up knows it, and everyone starts flaming for no good reason, and it ruins a perfectly good game of League? When you're the one who messed up, there's a real easy way to cut that off before it starts. Just say "sry, bro."

I'm not defending toxicity. When someone is toxic, you report them, and you apply mute liberally if you need that. There's never an excuse to be toxic.

However, if you are a mature person, you can help yourself by showing a little humility. We spend a lot of time talking about how to make this community "less bad," but that isn't the same as making it healthy and fun. Talking to your teammates when you mess up helps everyone feel better about you on their team; at least you know you goofed. If you can identify that, it means...

  1. you aren't tilted
  2. you can try to avoid that mistake again
  3. you care about communication and teamwork

I have found, lately, that this helps coordination. I say "my b" when I mess up. When I'm losing bot lane as supp, I tell my adc "good job, twitch. tough lane, but you're keeping up in cs. just ride it out." The team is more likely to play well and listen when you start communication with positive notes. Too often, people are silent, and then bad things happen and the toxic clown fiesta begins.

You've heard all this before; I just feel like a reminder post about being kind and working together is useful every once in awhile. GL HF summoners.

The thing where one of your mates says in all chat "i can it feel coming bby <3" and your answer is "your dad inside of you?"
