Holding the game hostage

There has been a huge surge in entire games being held hostage at all stages: in champion select, during the start of the game, in the middle of the game, and in the endgame. Someone will decide to autotilt and hold the game hostage, whether for ego reasons or what, I cannot imagine.

The community seems to have gotten it into their head that this is okay to do. As I write out this thread, the last guy who held the game hostage just got punished. Don't stop there, Riot. Make them ALL pay. Anyone who even THINKS about sabotaging a game should be struck down with the full weight of the banhammer.

In my experience, a player's rage is almost always fueled by their own teammates. Riot can't help you defuse the situation. Do it yourself.

You know, last time I checked, other players' behaviors are not my responsibility. If that was the case, there would be an international manhunt for me.

If people look to autotilt and sabotage games, that's not the fault of anybody but themselves. The fact that people seem to think that's okay proves that the punishments aren't severe enough and don't come fast enough. In this case, I destroyed bot lane and then helped mid and top in that order, smashing their respective turrets, and then the problem player in question starts shouting a hurricane of profanity at us, calling us trash and useless and how it's a 1v9, all the while he's gone active AFK in the fountain.

And it's not a matter of "oh, it's human nature" or "well we all do that from time to time". Bullshit. I have never once in all three and a half years of playing this game ever sabotaged a game because someone hurt my feelings or because I started feeling inadequate. People are in control of their own behaviors, and if they decide to throw a shit fit for whatever egotistical delusions they invite, then they have no place in this game.
