Why do people bring up rank in NORMAL/ARAM games?

It's always been this way but recently there's a spike in this sort of behavior. Why do people bring up rank in a casual setting as a way to argue? For example, let's say we have a silver adc and gold support (there's not even that much of a rank difference and yet they do this). Silver adc plays poorly, gold support flames, adc argues back, support looks adc up and says "you're silver trash, you don't know anything" (ok? like a gold 4 support is going to know much more than a silver 3 adc)

It even happens in the reverse. Let's say we have a diamond top and gold mid. Diamond top dies in lane a couple of times, mid looks up diamond player and goes "jesus you're diamond why are you so fking bad? boosted? ebay?"

Relax people. These are NORMAL games.

for real though, idk, guess some people will use anything to feel like they are better or that their words somehow are more valuable because they climbed higher? Some people are weird like that.

I guess I get why it happens in ranked but in Aram or normals that's just funny.

Cause it makes their ego feel better.

It's like when they used to try and use it as a way of saying "I dont have to listen to you cause you're rank xxx and I'm rank yyy" on here till the no rank shaming rule was put in place.

Generally to deflect an argument or avoid a strong point against them.

Or to shame out of envy or jealousy.

They are simply jerks and utilize the screen as a method to bully since they are unable to IRL.

People in these comments are over thinking it. Most people who talk about rank arent doing it to make themselves feel superior. They do it to trigger you. They do it because it almost always works. Since Riot also goes out of their way to tell players not to talk about ranks, it gives it more power and makes people more aware that people are too sensitive when it gets brought up.

If you tell someone that stomping on your foot causes you the most pain, they will remember that if you piss them off. You making a post about it only gives them more power as it further confirms it's effectiveness
