im not going to say i didnt deserve the chat restriction i got a couple weeks ago because i did. i raged at an ash, its over and done with. but 3 months of probation to "reform"? what kind of tyrant level punishment is that shit?
I mean to an extent it makes sense. If you are a frequent forum user, you would see a ton of people who claim they are sorry, they'll never be toxic again, etc. only to have them back saying they got ban or chat restricted again. People can claim all they want that they have improved, but we (riot and the community) needs proof. You do that by not showing your negative behavior in game, that means not getting reported, and not getting more bans/restrictions.
I think Three months is a nice way to reform, if it was shorter (one month) people just would stop playing for a month which isn't even that long of a time period! All in all this goes without saying. That this would have all been unneeded had people not been toxic and breaking the rules. If you can't do the time don't do the crime!

If it truly IS over and done with... then it doesn't matter how long the probationary period is??

It's not just that. Rito is purposely not telling their customers who have had a chat restriction when they consider them "reformed". I had a 10 game chat restriction about a month ago as well, and lemme tell you, it's annoying when I have an amazing game to constantly see the reminder that not only did I not receive any champion points, but also that I can't earn loot. Hell, unless I'm on my mastery level 5 champions I'm not even seeing a grade or how much IP I won!
I've honestly given up on the hextech crafting system. at first I thought it was cool, but then Socrates pissed everyone off on twitter and went into hiding and only two responses on the matter pertaining to what comes down to "We don't have a system in place to tell when you're reformed for the system" nor giving us the option to squelch the message at the end of every game, it's not given me much hope in this system lasting.
in the meantime, we all get to deal with the trolls in normals and ranked causing even MORE toxicity due to the attitude of "oh well, I can't earn a chest, neither can anyone else!"
sometimes i love it how NA is the live action PBE... Oh well, maybe in a year I'll finally be able to get a chest from a 10 game chat restriction I got a month ago because I finally got tired of a guy sending me death threats in game..
I didn't even know they gave a probation period.
