  1. Riot Games has recently stepped up their punishments for chat offenses. Significantly. Very significantly. Many people are being banned.

  2. Low level games are full of angry smurfs.

  3. Why is this happening? What could possibly explain this tremendous increase in the quantity of angry smurfs?

Riot's player behavior policy is making the game worse and worse for new players by all-but-ensuring they will be surrounded by people who are both pissed off and fearless of being banned, since their smurf account is new and has nothing invested in it. To support this claim, I saw a post on the front page of the League of Legends subreddit complaining about the extreme levels of "toxicity" in low level matches and talking about how awful the new player experience is. Just putting two and two together folks.

Let's see how many downvotes I can get on this one!

well if the community would grow up and act mature and stop being toxic lil ass clowns they wouldnt get banned they wouldnt create new accounts which are low level with nothing invested and wouldnt ruin the game for new players

without reading this post: if you claim its because "back then ppl didnt get permabanned", i started playing in season 2 and back then ppl were the same assholes as they are now. i legit was too scared of playing normals because i got flamed 3 games in a row so hard that i just stayed vs ai until i hit lv 30 and finally went back to normals.

Err... people start smurfs to troll new players all the time.

It's the same kind of mindset you see people using crit Yi in beginner bot to get the highest kill possible while blatantly kill-stealing from all of his teammates to fulfill their morbid desire and satisfaction.

It's just an asshole thing, It doesn't have to only be because of Riot bans or whatever, assholes have always been there in low level matches.
