50 minutes later he adds me. i accept because i couldnt believe that he is not 14 day banned. and i was wondering why so many people think the report system doesnt work. it really seems to be broken!?

Hey,

I'm going to just clear up a bit of confusion in this thread real quick. First off, there is no name and shame in this thread as the OP is naming the account he encountered the toxic player on and has edited out all the names from the screen shots. Second, discussing the behavior here is fine, although I will give a reminder that the Boards are not the place to report another player. If you encounter someone in the game that is toxic and uses that sort of talk against you, always report post game and/or submit a report ticket directly to Riot. If you are truly concerned that these are actual threats, contact your local authorities and inform them of the situation.

There are many reasons why a player may not be banned right away. It could be that they received a chat restriction instead or that this is a first offense and they may have just received a warning. I know Riot has a pretty zero tolerance policy regarding people telling others to KYS, but I don't know for sure. I would submit that ticket if you want to make sure Riot sees it.

Player Behavior is for discussing the behavior of yourself, assisting others in understanding their own behavior, and talking about how to deal with other people's behavior in game. For example, if you are chat restricted and are unsure why, you can post your logs here and have the community explain and discuss what behavior you did that was unacceptable so you can work on reforming.

If you encounter toxic behavior, you can post about it here, without names to avoid name and shame, to get advice on how to deal with the behavior in game. Alternatively, you can also ask if the behavior is reportable or not and whether or not it should be.

The reason we don't want reporting here is because rarely is it seen by Rioters so the only purpose it serves is name and shame. When it comes to informing Riot, the best course of action is not to hope they see a random thread on the Boards, but rather to give them that direct report post game using the client feature or sending in a report ticket as I previously mentioned.

I hope that clears things up a bit for you.

I played with a troll a week ago who was extremely racist and said things like "get aids retards"/ "get lynched n*****s" after games. My duo and I both reported the person directly to support with screenshots and the racist troll is still playing as of 1 hour ago. Our tickets were marked solved. My friends get banned for saying "trash" in all chat yet this person makes death threats, racist and homophobic comments, gets his games reviewed by 2 different members on riot support and is still playing games. Don't get the OP's hopes up. Yes it feels good to write to someone capable of doing something about your situation but all they will do is mark the ticket as solved. You can say and do anything as long as you aren't in game. If their automated system isn't banning them for their in-game rage, don't bother wasting your time and effort taking screenshots and writing essays to support about your experience with these types of ragers. I have a similar post in this section with screenshots of the offender in my games and he's still playing.

I am not sure who you are talking about. If someone has a severe case on their hands, it's best to report it to Riot directly through a ticket as I already noted in this thread. I am not a Rioter; I just volunteer on the Boards for Riot and cannot help with in game bans or lack thereof or speak of why a punishment was or was not given.

What I can do is lock this thread as bumping old threads is a violation of the Universal Rules. If you have concerns about a violation not being addressed properly, please make a new thread instead of bumping a dead one or send that ticket over to Riot.

If you wish to discuss this further or if anyone has questions about this lock, please feel free to come to the Moderation Discord.

THANK YOU. I don't know why there's this big protection policy against name shaming players, especially in a situation like this.

These types of players should be hung out to dry and made an example of, if not by Riot themselves, AT LEAST by the player community. We should be able to openly express our disapproval of this kind of behavior in whatever ways are available to us.

People should be genuinely afraid of acting like this. Fear is a wonderful motivator.

This is the same mentality behind people thinking stricter gun control laws will prevent school shootings and gun crimes.

You just don't know. The dudes girlfriend could have broken up with him, his mom could have died yesterday, and he could have gotten fired from his job all in the same week and he just lost his shit for a brief moment. You don't know his story.

I don't think ruining someone's record is a suitable punishment for something that happens online with no actual physical implications.

Sure, you can give someone the benefit of the doubt. But clearly, the police don't think they should ignore death threats online. So if someone ends up getting arrested because of something they typed, I wouldn't jump to their defense and I wouldn't have an issue if a case such as this was taken to the authorities.

Words are words. That's all they are. And these aren't even SPOKEN words, they're words typed on a keyboard over the internet. The probability of them actually amounting to anything is nearly insignificant.

Now if I said something along the lines that I was going to go shoot some people and "here's my plan on how to do it" then yeah, I'd expect to be investigated. The key word there is INVESTIGATED... not arrested. Innocent until proven guilty.

Any 12 year old with their mommy's laptop can talk up a big game on the internet, and if we want to take these threats seriously, we're going to need a lot more funding for police, because there's gonna be an awful lot of sexual assault cases being filed for all the "I'm gonna fuck your mom" that goes around.

I would like to come back to this after the school shootings that were committed after the threats were made online and even reported to the FBI. These reports should be cause for psychological evaluation at the least, at the most serious fines and the person should be registered as a criminal, and never be allowed to buy a weapon

Well executed, in my own opinion If someone gets way too sensitive over someone who trash talk and being very negative over the internet, then online video games might not be your cup of tea.

If one can’t handle other’s trash talk and negative comments through internet then how you gonna survive in the REAL but yet CRUEL WORLD.

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and move on. Words only gets to you if you allows it to.

If you’re old enough you’d know it’s just words not SPOKEN but TYPED words. Let’s be real here after like a day or two of game you’d prob forgot that has happened. Why waste your time on a nobody?

There are way too many people who trash talk and say very immature comments over the internet, if those comments gets reported to the police and maybe they gets put behind bars, might as well put everyone behind bars. The chances are probably 99.99999% of people have said atleast 1 bad thing in their life.

Again like the previous post Barkley and I mentioned those comments are said over a screen, nobody that you played against or with is gonna know you (except your friends ofcourse). Even IF that person lives few blocks near you he probably won’t know it’s you who said it.

Tbh, this is what I think riot should do: When I mute someone, all their messages are instantly deleted from my chat. That means when I am told to kms, after I mute them, their message won't stay there taunting me. Secondly, they should stay muted in the post-game lobby.

OP, don't add someone after they were toxic to you all game, that's basically just instigating.

Half the time I see someone being toxic in chat, I'm not even mad at the toxic person. I'm grown up enough to just mute the toxic person and report them after the game. The people that annoy me the most are the ones that continue to talk to and instigate the toxic person. People have lives outside of league, and sometimes they take their anger out on the people playing with them because they have no other outlets. It's sad, but you can just mute them and let them scream to a wall.

I don't know what I'm saying anymore TL;DR: Just press the mute button and report them, it's really easy. Riot should seriously add some features to the mute button though, like deleting all messages from that person after the mute.

Don't get mad at Riot because they don't have the best punishment system in the world, literally no game does. Everyone complains about every single punishment system. Overwatch, League, WoW, Battlerite, HoTS, Steam, etc. Y'all are acting like if you complain about cancer enough Riot will cure it. Just be glad they no longer have RiotLyte, I hated that dude's system. It was literally just punishment with no reward and we had psychologists on the boards literally telling him his system didn't make sense. I've seen a noticeable drop in a certain type of toxicity in league. I haven't had someone rage at me in a long time. I don't know if it's because I'm not in low elo (I get that gold isn't high elo but like still it's in the top 15% of players) or because I actually use the mute button, but like I just don't think we should be complaining about league's report system anymore.

Unless they changed something, no you can't. I remember a long long time ago, I'd block someone in game, get them on my team a 2nd time in a row, and then not even be able to see what role they called because I couldn't see their chat in champ select.

I literally just sent in a ticket two days ago about someone holding me and other people on my team hostage in champ select, and a Rioter replied saying they'll investigate the person and that they feel bad that I had to go through that. Was a human response and all, so I'm gonna believe that they do genuinely put effort into analyzing reports if the reporter puts effort into their report.

A ticket won't do anything more than a report when it comes to chat. They can see chat logs from champ select to post-game without your screenshots. If anything you should get your ticket rights provoked because you're delaying tickets with actual problems. You don't call 911 and tell them you have a problem and then drive there to tell them the same thing.
