I find this interesting because I played overwatch most of the day and I see all the same things that trigger toxic situations in league. They just never escalate past a comment or two since mostly no one cares about stuff like that in an FPS. You don't have the same reliance on that guy and you are free to leave anytime you want. But in losing games I see the same "garbage team doesn't know how to blablabla" type of stuff, but unlike league almost no one ever responds and the situations just fizzle out quickly.
If I had to guess, over watch doesn't feel as hopeless as league. It's easier to carry someone who's doing bad in over watch but not in league

Overwatch has a considerably smaller player base then what league currently has. As the community grows and the longer it's around you will see an increase in assholes.
I have a question about Overwatch; Is there an all chat where you can insult and harass your enemy or vice versa?
I think all has a little more to do with the toxicity than anything. You don't see as many negative people on warcraft or HotS either, guess what those games have in common!
But then again they're all blizzy games. Maybe Blizzard just has a more mature player base.

Why is League's community so horrible?
Because league has been out for what? 5 years? my bad 7 years. Overwatch has been out for less than a year. It hasn't gained much traction. Also you have to pay to play and a ton of kids don't have the money to purchase the game.
But once Overwatch becomes more known and is out for half a year, I think toxicity will be here and there. But still a lot less than league. In league, even with untoxic people, you can tell that if they're trying to say something toxic, they'll type something mild like "Hey can you come mid and help?" meanwhile they're actually thinking "This stupid motherfucker needs to come the fuck to mid so he can help me and these douchebags out. OMG GET THE FUCK OVER HERE."
Like chill guys its a game not a thing of life and death. Then even when you do what they say they end with "GG report this noob <champion>" like do you know what the report button is for? Anyway once Overwatch gets released and becomes more known, it will probably get a bit more toxic.
Free=everyone+kids. p2p=anyone over the age of 15.
