when is the issue of players baiting toxicity going to be remedied. yes i know players are "responsible for thier own actions" but for players with short tempers not responding is easier said then done. its like starving a dog. holding a steak in front of them. and then beating them every time they try to eat the steak. and riot has done NOTHING to accommodate those players. most of whom would be fine if they had the option to chat restrict or mute themselves before a game, and riot continues to pussyfoot around the issue, because they think if they dont give an answer. they dont have to deal with it

for a lot of people the issue is there's nothing stopping them from responding back even if they mute. and if someone is trolling in game and not typing. a mute isnt effective. and as long as they arent outright feeding. a report is unlikly to do anything as long as they dont use chat

Regardless of the situation, retaliation is never the answer. Responding to toxicity with more toxicity only creates more of it, not less, and those people should not get special treatment just because they were "baited" into it.

Personally, I just don't let any of it get to me. Someone being toxic? Just mute them. Someone trolling? Just get though the game. I know that trying to reason with these people is pointless; it's not like you can convince someone to change everything about themselves in a single 30 minute game. As such, by not stressing to try and "fix" the behavior of these people, I have a much better experience in league.
