Look, I have an Autistic Disorder, I don't often talk about this on the Internet because it's the internet. I don't expect people to change their behavior to do others a favor, because I know they most likely won't.

But the barrage of sound and annoying little visuals that these pings are give me a massive headache because of this disorder.

Basically, I really want the optoin to mute people's pings so I can avoid these situations.

I think what people should also recognize is that it's disruptive to everyone on your team to hear even though it's intended to harass one person.

If you harass people by pings, you're actually being a bad team player because putting your petty feelings above the team. Your pings are heard by everyone. Everyone gets annoyed. You don't just bother 1 person, you bother 3 other people. So one person actually negatively affects 4 people.

Autistic or not it's annoying as fuck and can interfere with your performance if they are the kind of assholes who like to ping right on your character while you're csing or trying to aim skillshots.

Please? People know they'll get in trouble if they have chat logs flaming people so now they just use pings :(

I have the same disorder, and I completely agree. I've turned the sound down, which helps, but it's still EXTREMELY disorienting when I'm trying to focus and my laner keeps spam pinging me, I get confused trying to understand what happened, and I usually make mistakes because of it. I wouldn't want to remove pings completely from someone, but maybe getting the option to limit someones pings??? So I only hear 1 ping every couple of seconds from them, rather than the barrage of mias???

they don't want to give people the ability to mute pings the same way they can mute chat., because a good chunk of the playerbase types /mute all at the start of every game. and they don't want people doing the same thing with pings. so until riot can come up with a solution that would keep people from muting everyones pings. they cant do it

some possibilities include

start banning people for refusing to communicate
make it so you can only mute 1 persons pings at a time
automatically unmute pings after a certain amount of time
make it so you can mute someones chat or their pings, but not both

Blocking out pings completely is probably a bad idea. It's the whole reason you can "not communicate" with chat and not be reported. Pinging is the communication, and frankly, it's really good when used well.

Instead, Riot should probably limit the amount of pings you can make under a short time rather than having 5 pings with a static cooldown for each. When people spam 5 pings in 3 seconds, yes it's very annoying. Perhaps limiting a ping to every 3-5 seconds would be a good idea.

In the settings you can turn down the sound, they probably will never get rid of it because it is helpful to communicate when you dont want to type.

You can turn the sounds off, nothing you can do about the visuals though :b
