PSA: Read Riot's Terms of Use before you buy RP

Every time a new patch comes out two pop-ups will open when you click the "Play" button for the first time. They are the EULA and the Terms of Use. Please read these before purchasing RP, especially the Terms of Use. The Terms of Use is relatively short and clearly lay out what behavior your account can be suspended or banned for. The Terms of Use also clearly define that everything in League of Legends, including your account and all purchased content, is Riot's property and that if your account is banned you will have no right to a refund.

Do not purchase hundreds or thousands of dollars on RP and then come whining to these boards that you got banned for something that Riot clearly says you will get banned for. You click "I agree" to the Terms of Use every time a new patch comes out, do yourself a favor and make sure you actually agree with the Terms of Use before you blindly click "I Agree."

Its your money after all. You wouldn't sign up for a credit card or a car loan or a new cell phone plan without reading the contract so why would you purchase RP without first reading the Terms of Use?

Dont buy .. its that simple, its not worth it they are overpriced anyway. Why pay a crap company for crap service? Go into this game expecting nothing and you will lose nothing.

Being forced to agree to them to play doesn't make them less unfair, either. If they want to vent about losing their RP, I think they should be able to.

Oh, they can vent. You are not forced to agree to the ToS. If you have an issue with the ToS, don't agree to them. There are plenty of other games to play. I'll stay here and they can go somewhere else.

If they are unfair then don't buy RP! Its that simple! Why would you pay to support a company when you are willfully breaking the Terms of Use that they say will get you banned? Its just not logical.

The rules basically say to not act like a jerk, participate in the game, and don't hack the game. That's unfair?

Actually, the rules say Riot can delete your account for any reason and they aren't liable to you in any way. That's not particularly fair, no.

They even put it in big letters.

But here's the thing. Most companies that have the rule won't use it randomly lest it ruin their reputation. If Riot just banned people for no reason at all, the game would slowly die as people stopped playing. The legalese is there to protect the company from being sued. Not to cow players in to submission.

Besides, how many players have been banned for absolutely no reason whatsoever other than Riot doing so because they could? I would bet real world currency it didn't happen.

The common "unfair" example is when someone gets access to your account without your permission and breaks the rules, either a little brother being toxic or a malicious user that steals your RP and you get a chargeback. Either way, Riot will not give you your account back, and you did nothing wrong.

Even in cases where the person did "deserve" it, if you didn't expect the ban, it would still feel very unfair to you. These boards are essentially here so people can get some closure on their punishments. There's no reason they shouldn't post here if they feel shafted.

You are responsible for your account and maintaining it's security. What are the game companies supposed to do? Hire a Secret Service-like agent to stand guard over everyone's computer? That's unreasonable and impossible.

If I had a sibling who somehow managed to get my account password, log in to my account, and cause me to get banned, that sibling is going to regret it for a very long time. But I would still tell Riot what happened. Chances are not good that I would be redeemed. But at least I told them.

If you break the rules, you should expect consequences. You're just fooling yourself thinking otherwise. Besides, if you did not read the Terms of Service before you clicked "I Agree," you cannot cry foul when something happens. First time offense bans are rare. But they can happen.

agreed. never buy RP it is a waste. you do not get any kind of physical code that gives you any sort of possession of the skins. All your money will vanish like a fart in the wind should you violate T&C which is easier to do than people have deluded themselves into thinking. If you want to keep funding a crappy chinese company that isnt afraid to take everything back for no reason, then you deserve whatever comes of it. Ill be giving my money to American companies like Blizzard. When i was younger and trolling world of warcraft i got punished but never any absurd perma-ban, so as i grow and earn more money, you better believe i wont give a cent to riot and their chinese permaban saltmine.

Oh man, I wish that were true... working for a cell phone provider, its AMAZING how many people don't read the Terms and Conditions, Terms of Use, or service agreement, before or even after getting service.
