I'm taking Malz, we need magic damage. (we had an ADC/Marksman top (Graves), and AD champs in mid and jungle. I chose a magic user to keep our damage type diversified)

I think they're wrong, but still have a small point.

The role of ADC may mean to carry with Attack Damage, but the real reason it exists is to take down towers.

Graves is terrible at this frankly, he's too short ranged. If you had something like Graves top, Lee Sin Jungle, and Yasuo mid, you really don't have much sieging ability. Thus, a typical ADC may have still been a good option (especially Corki). That said, you can't be expected to own and play every champion (I'm an ADC main and I don't own Corki, although I'm actually planning to purchase him soon).

Malzahar sounds like a reasonable choice there. I'm not sure how he does in lane against an ADC + Support but I'd imagine well. In general, in the situation where you need AP bot and Corki isn't an option, you want a mid laner who absolutely wrecks ADCs anyways. That way you can cheese win your lane, and still keep the good team comp.

My question is, why did you NOT go AD Malzahar? AD Malzahar isn't a trolling build, it's legitimately strong. Build Manamune w/ 40% CDR, maybe take Essence Reaver for that, then just spam all your spells like mad and summon 3+ voidlings to insta-gib any VIP they encounter. Gunblade or Rylai's could be a good mix-up, while still retaining your AD Malz shtick.

Split push all day if your team is retarded. Nobody can 1v1 a farmed &/or fed AD Malz, not unless they get a QSS, have Smite available to use, and have a lot of armor (even then, fat chance they will kill you, as you can just kite them around while simultaneously summoning legions of voidlings to widdle them away. Ka-ching, 250g, straight to the bank motherfucker). Also, I think AD Malzahar is literally the best pusher in the entire game. That isn't hyperbole. His voidlings kill towers at such an absurd rate that if you have 3 items, and the enemy team ignores you for as little as 5 minutes, you can take their inhibitor easy peasy, maybe even still their inhibitor tower if they send someone to stop you.

So, why get so mad at them asking you to be ADC? AD Malz is legitimate, and a lot of people don't know how to handle it. Hard counters include heavy-armor tanks or minion-murdering monstrosities, aka Malphite, Nasus, Rammus, etc.

Graves, like quinn, is a great top choice. He's a counter for a lot of bruisers up there. Your job as bot, in most scenarios including this one, are to be an ADC and a support. This means you were essentially trolling and griefing. EVEN if you don't see it that way.
