What should I do when two people refuse to play support and claim they called annother role first?

I recently had a normal (non-draft) game in which the last two people to call their roles called top. They immediately began arguing over who called it first, and both refused to play support. I think it's possible that due to client-server lag both would have seen their call show up first, but I'm not sure.

They both went top and proceeded to argue, swear at eachother and ping spam eachother. Meanwhile our poor Ezreal bot lane was left 2v1 vs MF and Morg so he obviously fed. Ironically our team ended up winning as I played Hecarim and my friend played Yasuo and we both got fed.

I'm not sure who actually called top first (I didn't see the whole conversation in champ select), or if they both called top first, or if one of them was obligated to play support regardless of what happened previously, so I ended up reporting neither of them for role stealing.

I'm wondering what the summoner's code says about this and who, if anyone, should I have reported.

Honestly, when a situation like that arises, you're not obligated to but one possible idea is offering your role and playing support instead. Yeah, I know there are many reasons why someone would not want to do that, but if it's a normal game and you're willing. Granted, they won't learn any better if they get roles spoonfed to them, or there's a possibility that they only want to top and jungle isn't even a consideration.

As for your question:

I'm wondering what the summoner's code says about this and who, if anyone, should I have reported.

Both. Who should've gotten what role doesn't matter, it's how they dealt with it.

They both went top and proceeded to argue, swear at eachother and ping spam eachother.

That's the part that wasn't okay.

Good post, I'm curious about this too. As far as I know you can't report people for not supporting or for going duo top. The report system is not meant to enforce the meta.

nothing.

blind pick is the wild wild west and there is no role defined there.

Following call order is common courtesy, but not a rule that is set in stone.

Both should be reported imo. I hate Ping Spamming, it's very annoying.
