There really should be a list of bannable words and phrases

A lot of people dont speak English as their first language. They might pick up bad language and not know what it actually means. Or maybe have a rough idea of what it means but not understand the severity of the word or phrase.

It would be a very ugly list but it should exist for sure.

Once you make a list of what exactly is bannable or not, you have players who will do everything possible and find ways to use the same language but not have it on the list. You eventually end up with either non-bannable toxicity (because everyone knows they're using a certain word to be toxic, but it's not on the list) or you end up with literally the entire langauge blocked.

If people are using words they do not understand the full meaning of, that is not Riot's problem.

While it might be nice to show some of the more problematic terms, if you make a full list, then people will simply skirt around the edges and find other ways to say the same things. Most of these language situations I've seen are due to someone trying to insult someone and using a term they didn't know was hate speech...and the real problem there is that they're trying to insult someone in the first place.

You shouldn't need a list. Every descent human being should know what and what not to say to fellow human beings. If you're typing something in chat, read it, think to yourself: would it be ok to say this to your parents, children, teacher, boss, etc... If at any point you're thinking: "oh no i would not say that to my parents, children, teachers, boss, etc... then hit ESC instead of ENTER. And you're safe.

If they make a list there needs to be a huge disclaimer that they are merely examples, and do not cover everything that you could be punished for.

If they missed anything, players could simply use "Oh but that swear word wasn't on the list so therefore I cannot be banned" excuse. It might not work, but it'll still be annoying. However, I do like this idea, as it'll prevent the most annoying and common ones ('retard', 'insert insult about mother')

Obviously RIOT has the list, dunno why they only want to keep it for themselves.

I don't think I have seen someone get banned and not know what they were saying. I've seen some people argue that they thought "KYS" meant "Kiss yourself" but that's more them trying to cover themselves after the fact.

I appreciate the intention to be kind but Ignorance is Not Innocence. They are still at fault for doing so.

As for the "skirting" and slope issues, everyone already knows what's on the list. And that doesn't actually have an impact on this.
