How do you guys respond to someone on your team being negative toward the enemy?

Speak up? Stay silent? Join them? Defend the enemy?

I'll give you some context. The game is ASS RAPE URF and my teammate blitzcrank is shit talking the enemy katarina for doing bad. So I kindly explain that katarina doesn't shine on URF because her kit is designed to be on a high cooldown when she lands on her daggers.

I don't care about chat in urf, I'm more focused on mashing buttons.

In your specific scenario, what you did was fine.

I just mute people and report them when they're being awful to the enemy team.

Typically engaging them results in escalating because they turn on you, however there are certain things I do step in on.

For example, when someone says a racial slur or derogatory statement, I'll step in and say that there's no need to use that kind of language in this game and then report afterwards. Usually I don't see the person typing again afterwards but if they do try to escalate, I just mute them and let them dig their own punishment grave.

Apparently Riot now endorses this behavior as evidenced by the loading screen text that says it's ok as long as it's not hate speech. I mean hell people sit and BM with the damn emotes all game too.

Who shit talks in urf , what a loser in that situation I'd report him. Sometimes in ranked when i cannot stand my lane opponents and I out play them I all chat "better luck next time!" HAHAHAHAHA

speaking up would probably escalate things because that would turn the attention to you and cause you both to argue, which would probably have a negative impact on your account. best thing IMO would be tell them ONCE to stop, and if they dont, mute them yourself as they probably arent, and its obviously bothering you. unfortunately in katarinas case she has to mute them herself, or she is purposely subjecting herself to it, you cant do much about that.

mute your teammate and say "don't listen to him" to that kata. And never talk again.
