It's just norms...
UPDATE: I love that so many of you got angry when you read this...you're the reason I keep writing these. Thank you so much. My life lacks purpose without your fragility.
Yes, congratulations on accurately determining that draft is, indeed, not ranked. I bet you were the smartest kid in your class. But did you notice how there are 3 other queues, plus ARAM and a rotating queue, that are also not ranked? Why do we have three other queues, if it's all "norms"? Because they have different purposes.
-
Bots/Practice Mode: Beyond people who are learning the game, this is mainly used by advanced players learning champs/builds that they haven't tried against people yet. This is as easy as League gets. You're not competing against people, and the bots are predictable. Time Spent: ~18 - 22 minutes from queue to game end.
-
Blind Pick: This is where you bring that new champ/build that you just slaughtered some bots with. If you don't feel like playing an available role, or everything you want has been called, you can make up a new one. Duo jungles, duo tops, three-man-mids, eleven-man-mids...whatever, do as you will. You're here because you wanna see if attack speed Braum is the next thing you're gonna make someone rage-quit in draft with. If you're high/drunk...this is an awesome place to be. Time Spent: ~22 - 32 minutes from queue to game end.
-
Draft: You know your champ, your build, and your role. You get matched with people who want a better fight, and better players fighting alongside them. A lot of people are practicing for ranked. The guy who got stomped into AFK'ing/Tilting? That's the guy who decided he was going to win with a champ he's never played, against...you, the guy who put in a handful of blind picks, and made him irrelevant. Time Spent: ~28 - 44 minutes from queue to game end.
The point is, there's about a 6-12 minute difference between blind pick and draft. If that doesn't sound like a lot, try spending 6 minutes at a traffic light. There are queues for those who want to smoke a bowl/drink a beer and chase the Shaco. There are also queues for those who have time for one game before work, and give everything they've got to get that win. Even trying your best, you can't win them all. Everyone gets outmatched sometimes, for a variety of reasons. But don't make "it's norms" your reason for wasting everyone else's time because you don't know or care about the difference between unranked queues.
P.S. The thought process here will go way over a lot of you people, so if you feel insecure or defensive because of this, do yourself a favor and write it in your journal. Paper doesn't know you can't spell, read, or debate without getting colicky.
