Is gold elo heaven?
Honest question.
Coming up through the ranks there was so much raging and trolling all through bronze and silver. People would go full tilt after a single kill and never took any responsibility for their mistakes. ADCs trying to win a melee fist fight with a bruiser. Assassins diving in 1v5 and then spam pinging ? when they get popped into 0.1 seconds. Top laners telling me to "stfu" when I ping danger because the jungler is coming to gank them, dying to said gank and then flaming their jungler for not ganking for them. Junglers farming for 20 minutes and then blaming their team for being behind. And don't get me started on the troll support picks who purposely steal CS from their ADC and never ward.
But as soon as I started playing with and against mostly gold players all that stopped. People actually said "mb" when they messed up and got killed. People actually listened to pings and moved from objective to objective. People joked and laughed and tried to build some comradery with the strangers they had been paired up with. Games were fun no matter if we won or lost because everyone was at least working together.
Strangely, my MMR for normal games somehow got so high that I play mostly against plat and low diamond now. What was even more hilarious is that the behavior I saw from bronze and silver players is identical to the behavior I see from a lot of plat and low diamond players. Raging, blaming your team, going for stupid outplays, purposely trolling after a couple deaths, AFKing, etc. Literally the only difference between my bronze/silver games and the plat/diamond games is that the plat and diamond players are better at CSing and have better mechanics. I can only imagine how bad it is in ranked if this is how people act in normals.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is gold the peaceful eye of the elo hurricane? Is it an oasis in the great salt desert of the rift? Does it get better in high diamond and above? Is it even worth it to climb higher than gold?
